I have to say though I really think you are operating with a characterization of the different people in question. What you describe makes me think you picture the Palestinians and everyone who supports them as cartoonish villains twirling their long mustaches and cackling over their evil plans, the same kind who would capture you and then tell you all about it while a chance for your escape appeared thus allowing the protagonist to save the day at the nick of time, probably followed by a brief moment of uncertainty where we're all unsure that he survived the climactic battle with his twirly mustached nemesis. Naturally hes okay and we all go home feeling warm and tingly inside
