So the NOAA ( see the link I gave above) is lying and your intuition is correct?
And NASA is lying?

What are you talking about?

Click on my NOAA and NASA link. There you will see that both confirm that our temps have been increasing.

Sure, the temps have been increasing, but the planet is currently in a cooling trend.

The global land surface temperature was 0.99°C (1.78°F) above the 20th century average of 13.8°C (56.9°F), the second highest on record for August, behind 1998.
For the ocean, the August global sea surface temperature was 0.65°C (1.17°F) above the 20th century average of 16.4°C (61.4°F). This record high departure from average not only beats the previous August record set in 2005 by 0.08°C (0.14°F), but also beats the previous all-time record set just two months ago in June 2014 by 0.03°C (0.05°F).
The combined average global land and ocean surface temperature for the June?August period was also record high for this period, at 0.71°C (1.28°F) above the 20th century average of 16.4°C (61.5°F), beating the previous record set in 1998.
The June?August worldwide land surface temperature was 0.91°C (1.64°F) above the 20th century average, the fifth highest on record for this period. The global ocean surface temperature for the same period was 0.63°C (1.13°F) above the 20th century average, the highest on record for June?August. This beats the previous record set in 2009 by 0.04°C (0.07°F).

Then why do we keep braking records?

Earth: Cooling since 1998. It's as simple as that.

Believe your intuition if you want. I prefer science.I think it is silly to think that NASA, NOAA, the Royal Academy, the American Meteorological Society, Scientific American, National Geographic, and every scientific organization in the world of national and\or international reputation is lying.

They are not lying. Scientific data shows a cooling trend since 1998. Nobody disputes it.

Did you read my post? Did you read the NOAA saying that we keep breaking heat records?

Sorry, my last post meant to quote the above.

Give just one site from a scientific organization of national and\or international reputation that says the earth is cooling. You cannot because you only see those lies on blogs etc. Remember, please a primary site that actually did the research, not some right wing fanatic's blog.

Surely this is a poe? Nobody could possibly be that statistically illiterate that they can't notice their mistakes even after they've been pointed out to them, and that they think others share their opinion after it has been pointed out that next to nobody shares their opinion.

Well, whilst we might have wasted some time, at least we dropped a load of knowledge for anyone curious who has been reading the thread.

Indeed. But I think there?s not much need to discuss what will be the consequences of releasing so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It?ll keep being released, no matter what you do, and probably at an ever-increasing rate, till all economically accessible fossil fuels are exhausted, which doesn?t seem to be very far away in the future. We?ll see what happens when all those carbon atoms which stayed trapped underground for so many millions of years are finally part of the atmosphere and the oceans?nicely acidifying the latter?in the form of carbon dioxide.

No contradiction. Temperatures have increased in the past, but they are currently falling. We could be heading for a new ice age, which is a bit early compared to earlier pre-glacial temperature peaks. It's much too cold for that. We can only hope temperatures will rise again. The Earth's core is also getting cooler, and we will most likely freeze to death before the Sun explodes.

I'm optimistic that we can stem the tide. I don't know much about CCS, but hopefully innovations in that area will help us return to pre-industrial levels.

I'm with Wittgenstein: show your sources. Right now it looks like you're pulling stuff out of your ass just to be contradictory.

Satellite data shows a cooling trend since 1998.
