Randomly saying go look up intellectual dishonesty did not clearly address anything I said...not to mention what you define as modern day authoritarianism seems to more be progressive policies you don't like rather than actual authoritarianism. And no one went back in time, siting examples from history in a political discussion is perfectly acceptable no ones fault you went off the deep end over it.
There was nothing random about my suggestion. It was both aimed at a specific individual and the specific topic of discussion. I have not defined modern day authoritarianism, let alone defined it as the entirety of progressivism. Citing examples from history as justification for the opinion that it is "absolutely" ok to infringe on people's rights is something I consider 'absolutely' unethical. You, of course, are free to believe the opposite.
As for going "off the deep end", even the shallowest pool seems terrifying when you're still wearing water wings. Care to try swimming a few lengths?
But no one said it is 'absolutely' ok to infringe on peoples rights, the historic example was an example of the government stepping in to protect peoples rights not the other way around. I think everyone here would consider absolute infringement on peoples rights unethical including myself. What rights do you feel are being infringed upon?
And it appears you don't know what that phrase means in that context so never-mind.
