I think that maybe you define what is Christian narrowly to make it easier for you to ignore. You say that if I don't fit that stereotype, if I don't fit into the narrow category you've created in your mind, then I'm not a Christian. It is because of this very attitude that I started this thread.

In the same breath you say that you can't judge anyone's salvation, but continue to imply that you do judge mine. Also, you imply that I'm made of politically correct rubber because of my beliefs on one issue when you know nothing more about my political beliefs. If that isn't stereotyping, I don't know what is. Also, I feel that you assume that because I don't take every word of the Bible literally that means I don't know what it says. I guarantee that I do know what the Bible says. I just think it is rude to quote texts at people as if they are mine to throw at whomever I'd like.

Well, if some of my views are diametrically opposed to some of yours, then simply stating my beliefs will be an afront to you. I don't mean it that way, and I want to get along, really.

I wish I could believe that you want to get along, but I don't.

Ah, so now you're not only a judge of other people's minds (by saying I really don't want to get along with you, when I said I do), but now, you're even a judge of hearts, by calling me unloving! Wow, I guess the Bible really is wrong in some places, because you're omniscient!

It's funny, when I quoted Jesus talking about peoples' bad fates at the day of judgment, and then Him telling people that a rock will fall upon them and grind them to powder, you didn't seem to think He was unloving. I guess you'd look kind of strange if you openly criticized your own Lord. As He demonstrated, harsh words sometimes need to be spoken, and they can still be spoken in love. If Mordy takes that advice, which I meant sincerely, he'll be better off, learning about the things of God, instead of trolling in ultimate hopelessness.

I said it was an unloving thing to say because I did not feel that you were really concerned about Mordy at all or trying to understand and perhaps rationally disagree with his position in a way that he would understand. It seemed as if you were just being defensive and insulting.

Also, why do you expect me to believe that you want to get along with people or even with me if you continue to act like you don't?

All I'm saying is that actions speak louder than words. I believe you're behavior towards me doesn't support the statement that you do what to get along, therefore I don't believe you. I don't believe that you don't want to get along because I want to believe that, I don't believe it because that is what your actions have suggested.

I don't think that I can refuse your friendship if it hasn't actually been offered to me. I don't feel like it has been offered to me because of how you've treated me in this thread. You can't just belittle someone and then tell them that you really want to be friends and expect them to take you seriously.

As for Christians turning against one another, I think that that should be expected in a thread meant to point out that not all Christians are the same.

My point was that our core beliefs are all that people can assume about us when we imply or say outrightly that we are Christian. If they assume more than that, it is probable that they will be mistaken.

I don't like people assuming things about me and it makes me very frustrated. I feel that you've assumed some things about me because of a stereotype within the Christian community and I think that is why I said I felt belittled, but I can also see that I have assumed things about you because of a stereotype and that your frustration with me comes from that. I'm sorry if I assumed things about you that were not true like that you were being personal in disagreeing with me. I do feel that your style is somewhat off putting in that you sometimes quote texts at people instead of just saying what you are thinking and in that you sometimes resort to name calling.
