I was referring to Roboto. Remember, I said "guy."

Yes, rich people and business does have an obligation morally to fund the public. It's called taxation, which is a burden for the common good that we have collectively chosen, either by direct vote or through our representatives. And yes, even poor people do pay taxes - - sales taxes. It's just a matter considering who can afford how much they are taxed, based on what is comfortable for some, and what is financially devastating for others.

Mostly, poor people are poor, because of their attitude and behavior.

For example, credit card debt.

So, this "MORAL OBLIGATION" means some people are required to forever fund the bad attitude and bad behaviors of others??

Or so goes the argument by people who look down on those without, or who don't want to be respon sible for their fellow people.

Conservatives are trying to help poor people, not look down on them.

I watch debt-help financial shows like Dave Ramsey.

Poor people describe their debt, circumstances, and excuses.

What is his #1 advice to poor people?

Answer: Stop being stupid.

Conservatives don't look down on poor people, but want to help them? Not from my observation of most people with conservative politics.
I don't know who Dave Ramsey is, and I have little to no interest in learning about him.

How helpful, how completely not condescending.

I'll have to remember that line for when I see conservatives struggling, since apparently among that bloc telling someone to not be so stupid is viewed as a genuine, compassionate attempt at help.

Loading up on consumer debt is stupid, and millions of poor Americans do it.

Like, poor people will finance a $50,000 car with only a $20,000 income.

Millions of people do it and they span the political spectrum, most of them will turn out to be of average intellect if you were to examine them. Calling them stupid doesn't help them in any way shape or form, it doesn't actually describe the problem at all, it's just an insult. Giving them strategies for how to avoid that situation might help, looking at the overall economic picture for working class people to understand how many get caught in that situation might give insight into how to help, but calling them stupid isn't helpful.

When an entire ideological bloc insists on expressing 'poor people deserve to suffer because they're stupid' it's clear that those people can't be trusted to contribute to the solution, even if some of those people are actually within the group they're insulting. One side offers insults, the other offers solutions - for reasonable people the people offering solutions will be viewed as more helpful than the one offering insults.

My big concerns with Bernie:

- he doesn’t understand the link between economic freedom and social justice. The best example of this is probably his protectionism, but you also see it with his tax plans, abolition of private healthcare, etc.
- he is too much of a nativist. He wants to stop deportations - good - but doesn’t want to make it significantly easier to immigrate, only going back to Obama-era regulations. It’s even worse on trade, where he’s pulled the Democratic Party in a horrid protectionist direction and he doesn’t list any benefits to trade on his website.

That seems typical for a Socialist.

They see *protectionism* as a means of protecting worker pay.

‘We’d be f—ed’: Texas Dems sweat a Bernie Sanders ticket

"The real fear for Texas D’s remains Sanders," Bill Miller, a longtime Austin lobbyist who has worked with both Democrats and Republicans, said of a Sanders ticket. “'We’d be f****d' — that’s what they’re saying. The drain at the top goes down to the bottom.”

“The R’s are on their knees praying every day for Bernie,” Miller said.

I would never have an opinion on why some poor people are poor. I'm comfortable with my position that I earned it therefore I earn the right to decide what to do with it. I don't need to apply judgement on poor people in order to feel that way. That the public has decided that my family owes them 50% of what we earn and that isn't enough for them makes me cringe.

I disagree completely. Nobody owes anybody anything except for granting them their freedom to be and act how the please so long as they don't impede on the freedom of others. How they choose to manage their freedom is entirely up to them and I don't feel that they are obligated to do anything, except not steal from me (or anyone).

Bernie PLUMMETS to 1st place in Texas.

The Texas Tribune wrote:
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders has doubled his support among Democratic voters in Texas and now leads the race for that party’s presidential nomination in Texas, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

Full Story

The Texas Tribune is a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization that informs Texans — and engages with them — about public policy, politics, government and statewide issues.

All my mainstream media and establishment sources tell me he couldn't possibly be popular, but if he is it must be bad and that being popular doesn't make him electable because having an enthusiastic core of supporters isn't a good thing because it makes him totally unelectable just like Donald Trump, who couldn't possibly defeat Hillary Clinton.

I am hearing how those who perform have an obligation to fund those who don't want to perform. I think obligation goes both ways rather than being one sided.

You seem to be thinking of taxation as a means of punishing those of means, or that there's something capricious about targeting the rich. No, what I'm talking about is financing the public good, which includes the wealthy. The rich should be taxed more than the middle class or the poor only because they can pay that amount comfortably, whereas the rest of us wouldn't be able to.

That, again, is the right's view of taxation. No, it's for the public good.
And not wanting to perform? Have you considered how business hasn't provided enough jobs for everyone? Or even when business does, they're very stingy with pay and benefits? The jobs creators have given us this situation, and they're the only ones who can fix it if they don't want to pay for the social safety net.
