Response to "If you are a white person... "
While I myself live in Eastern Europe where ethnicity structure is completely different and "white" isn't a thing at all because the most openly discriminated minorities are also "white", I would doubt your words fit well e.g. the WP members with spouses "of color"...
It's not your fault that you're ignorant. You have no measuring stick, no barometer with which to measure and comprehend what I'm saying. What would you even know about diversity and inter-racial relations living in a homogeneous country like Poland?
I have experienced white privilege - when travelling aboard, especially in Western Europe and Middle East.
Being obviously European-looking and not sticking out of the crowd makes border controls quick and easy.
It instantly ends when you start to stick out. When I was mismedicated, I started getting redirected to the "other queue" and got thoroughly questioned and searched.

You can tell me your experiences.
Like I said, "you must live in a non-diverse, almost exclusively white-centric world." You're only proving my point further.
I have shared my experiences on white privilege and limits of it in the post above.
Please, tell me your experiences. The spotlight is on you.

Re-read the thread. Go to page ONE and scroll for my name/avatar, and read. I don't feel like reposting my experiences because you don't feel like going back and reading them.
When I say "better," I mean "better" in the sense of many things.
Examples:
1. Being able to help others through adversity through your experience with adversity.
2. Being able to expand your horizons intellectually. Sometimes (like myself), people hit walls, and don't feel like putting in the effort to go beyond a certain point. I've done okay sometimes; but I have not become a professor, a person with a professional knowledge of anything, because I didn't desire to expend the effort to go "beyond that certain point."
3. Having a broadened knowledge of people and cultures. Related to #2.
Many, many more that I can't think of at the moment.
Please note: I am not an advocate of people going through adversity for the sake of "bettering themselves." I am aware that this approach is not the best for everyone. Many times, people do achieve without adversity, and achieve "more" without adversity.
But, for me, in order for me to have gone beyond a certain point, I had to face adversity.
The fact that the OP keeps citing his autism, as opposed to his skin color, as the reason why his life sucks is evidence of this.
Some people on WP really need to grasp the concept of "nuance."
The word "privilege" implies a specific and intentional advantage given to white people and less of a indifference like you allude to. Perhaps it should be called "white indifference" instead of while privilege.
Not surprisingly white people who struggle, of which there are plenty will get massively and justifiably butt hurt if they're repeatedly told they have privilege
It is true that light skin does not shield you from discrimination for other reasons.
It is true here, too. Probably even more - exactly because of the relative phenotypical homogenity.

No, the OP of this thread shared that. His name is dorkseid. My name is ezbzbfcg2, I'm a completely different user. No connection to Libya. No recent non-white ancestry. You don't even know who you're responding to, which is very disconcerting and makes your responses untrustworthy. You're not even flexing reading comprehension skills. Do not ever reply to me again if you're this narrow-minded.
Do you really "listen" to people if you can't distinguish one from another? It's troubling.

Strange its taken 11 years for me to notice how wise you are Kraftie,
Are you familiar with the psychiatrist Victor Frankel,
Frankl believed that humans are motivated by something called a "will to meaning," which is the desire to find meaning in life. He argued that life can have meaning even in the most miserable of circumstances and that the motivation for living comes from finding that meaning.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Indeed. Sorry.
When you asked me to "re-read the thread", I automatically assumed it's your thread, without checking.
Also, he's the one actually sharing experiences in this thread.

Where I'm from, non whites seem to be doing better than whites. Perhaps it applies more in the US than the Welsh valleys but in the UK the poorest areas are often the whitest.
