Clips. Cut by someone trying to tell a particular story.
Valid and relevant clips nonetheless, because Alex Jones was found legally responsible in two lawsuits for damages caused by his claims surrounding the 2012 Sandy Hook school mass shooting.  The man is like an Internet troll with a microphone -- interested only in distorting the truth and fabricating lies to support his opinions without regard to the damage he causes.

The thing I will day in Alex Jones' favor is that he is against the horrible U.S. regime-change foreign policy. I give him credit for that.

That is like giving a Silver Sow award to Les Nessman.

No, not if you consider that continuing these wars is a major existential threat to our country. It's not a trivial issue. Study your history. We are replicating the model of late-stage empires. It cannot be sustained for very much longer.

Defend Jones all you want, but the fact remains that he denied anyone had been killed at Sandy Hook, and that the parents were nothing but crisis actors. That's just doubly cruel to those who lost children that day. The fact that Jones' followers bought it, hook-line-and-sinker says they had learned it from him.
Are you suggesting he's right about the school shooting?

That's the thing though, if you haven't watched the whole show in context, how do you actually know that the clips are truly representative of what was said and with what intent? As far as the trial goes, IIRC he didn't show up and had a default judgement entered against him (I've heard him claim he was not properly notified to explain not showing up), so it's hardly dispositive of anything other than he had bad attorneys. Another piece of the puzzle with him is that he's a heavy, heavy drinker, like multiple bottles of whiskey a day at times, which actually makes some of the wilder rants make a bit more sense if you assume he was blacked out at the time, and certainly calls into question his intent with many of them, drunken theorizing rather than malice. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying he's trustworthy or someone I would get news from, just playing Devil's Advocate with some of the assumptions being made about him.

Or maybe he's just a POS, psycho snake oil salesman like the rest of us know he is.

There is no shortage of conspiracy theorists, like Rachael Maddow who pushed Russiagate on MSNBC for three years.

You think you know, which is sort of my point here that you're failing to grasp.

That's the great irony here, Alex Jones spreads much fewer falsehoods to a much smaller audience than the MSM, and yet it's he who is deplattformed and anathematized from polite society. He's an easy bogeyman to point to with is ranting and his silly supplements, in order to distract from the much more brazen deceptions happening right in front of everyone.

The really sad thing is that some people will actually defend Alex Jones.  After all, he is someone who has yet to meet a conspiracy theory he does not endorse, no matter how bat-guano nutzo it is; and, interestingly enough, no matter how much it conflicts with other conspiracy theories he already believes.

Absolutely. Sadly. It's only getting worse. As the censorship of any voice that doesn't meet corporate approval ramps up, they continue to cheer it on. Crazy times.

His audience has certainly grown quite a bit, and as far as I know is still growing.

And some of the claims he promotes really are dangerous, especially to religious minorities (not just Jews) -- and also to random ordinary non-elite people, as should be clear to anyone who paid attention to the original Satanic Ritual Abuse scare of the 1980's and early 1990's. The main people who got wrongly convicted of child sex abuse back then were ordinary childcare center workers.

By the way, I myself did pay a fair bit of attention to Alex Jones back in 2007-2008. For about a year or so at that time, I was obsessed with learning about the "9/11 Truth" movement and spent quite a bit of time reading both its proponents and its debunkers. Alex Jones fans constituted one wing of the "9/11 Truth" movement.

At around that same time, Alex Jones and his fans were also promoting various conspiracy claims about the Federal Reserve. Most of the latter claims appeared to have been derived from the writings of some neo-Nazi whose name escapes me at the moment.

What specific "much more brazen deceptions" are you talking about here? Please give us some examples that you personally feel strongly about.

More generally, it would be nice if you could spend more of your time here telling us about (and arguing for) your own points of view, rather than just claiming, without elaboration, that the rest of us don't know what we are talking about.

Yup, I'll defend anyone who I think isn't being treated fairly, even if that person might be odious in some ways; I'm consistent like that.
