Extreme Christians
Yeah, it's also one of the stupidest lies I have ever heard. If you are gullible enough to believe in the bible, you have proved yourself as being mentally ret*d. Just like you'd have to be mentally ret*d to believe in the following story:
Guess what guys! I just saw some monsters today! They were really big and red and had fire coming out of their mouths! I ran for hours and hours and kept on running! BTW, then some more monsters chased me and a big-ass dragon came and flew in front of me while I was running from the monsters that were behind me! Then my friend Mr. Dude came and helped me cast magic on some of the monsters that were chasing me! They all died and the whole world was happy!
That stupid story I just made up is about as believable and stupid as some of the sh** I've read in the bible. People read this ret*d stuff and think it's all deep. Monsters aren't real, so why do people believe in monsters when they read about them in the bible?
BTW, if you think that there aren't any monsters in the bible you are wrong. Read Revelations, there is plenty of talk of monsters in that book of the bible. Most Christians don't ever read the bible though unfortunately.
I find it sad and pathetic how it seems like more non-Christians have read the bible than Christians. If Christians would actually read the bible they'd maybe realize how ret*d the religion they are studying is.
Some people don't take the book of Revelations literally. Some think it was meant to represent the persecution of early Christians by the Romans. At least, thats what I remember it to be a representation of. Would any Christians care to elucidate?

There are many interpretations of the bible and it is not usually taken in the literal since that you have described. If anything, you are putting a religion down because of personal opinion.

In all honesty, the only reason people don't take it literal is because its STUPID.
The Bible was written in a LITERAL SENSE. People just apologize for it by saying "Oh, thats not literal".

Exactly......... Who the f**k is to say it wasn't written in a literal way? Did you write the book? If it wasn't written in a literal way then I guess heaven or hell ain't real places either then... I hate how people like to nitpick certain parts of the bible and choose what is "literal" and what isn't. They like to think that all of the paranormal happenings mentioned aren't literal. Let me ask you this... If none of it was written in a literal way, wouldn't it mean that there is no heaven or hell? To me, heaven and hell seem like extremely paranormal places if you ask me... You nitpickers out there sure like to think that all of the paranormal stuff written in the bible isn't "literal".

lol. Sure coming from a person whom I am willing to bet was selective in reading the bible (DID YOU KNOW ABRAHAM ALMOST SACRIFICED ISAAC!! OMG HORRIBLE!! MOSES PARTED THE SEA!!!LOLOL!!). I doubt you, or any other critics here, have enough authority and knowledge outside your wacky neighbors to justify calling the bible a complete, and utter mess of a work. Consider the fact that western society was built upon the Bible--literature, laws, etc, such a talk only does a disservice to your arguments.
Straw man argument
Ad hominem
Non Sequitur
You seem to be taking a page from the bible - just appeal to lack of logic, and you shall win!
The one thing that comes to mind in the latest posts are that both atheism and religion can be taken into extremism rather than taken into consideration as a perspective, that's usually why I'm not big on religion and philosophy. These are one of them debates that could be argued for centuries or forever.
Oh and I don't hate you Pat666, if you noticed my ultimate sin is envy.

very wrong! and by the way our country wasnt founded with judeo-christian principles so dont try to kid yourself. our founding fathers were men, not evangelists. freedom of religion means dont shove your fairy tale down my throat. take the ten commandments down and who do we think were kidding when we say "in god we trust". yeah lets trust in god to protect us from our enemies bahahaha. you know the track record.

sorry buddy take history class just one more time, our "founding fathers" wanted to create a free country so that people could practice their religion(which was mostly the protestants wanting freedom of their religion they didn't really care for other peoples religions) without the government or monachry coming into your house and condemning you to death for not believing in the same religion as the king or whoever's in control of the country, which didn't work out so well because soon enough they started doing the same thing which started up the Salem witch trials and other problems like it.

Most of the founding fathers were Episcopalians and Unitarians, though. Those are extremely liberal denominations.
But then again, I base conservative vs. liberal on whether someone watches South Park.

when am see the thread name 'extreme christians' it gets am stuck on the name of that makeover show-extreme makeover-home edition.
maybe there should be a extreme christians-makeover edition, where extreme christians are made into not as extreme christians [at least no harassing on streets, forcing christianity and preaching on others etc].
am do not like extremes of most things,it's too much when its forced.
there are some regular christian extremists in manchester, there is one lady in particular who is very forcing-she will follow am and whoever is with am around trying to get to convert to her religeon, and she says the world is going to end if do not pray for sins,if am had the speech for it,am would really like to be able to say something short but profound to her- 'Anton LaVey'....she's following around the wrong person.

The Salem Witch Trials, which occurred between May and October of 1692, preceeded the American Revolution in 1754- 1776 by some 62 years. Enroll in the same history class you are suggesting SirJoseph should go to, Darkstone100.
