When oscuria talks about tolerance, he raises a very important point.

How far should tolerance extend? How malleable should value-systems become? Tolerating others is obviously the bedrock of human civlization. Value systems, ditto. But everything needsb to have clearly defined boundaries. It's noted here that boundaries should be somewhat flexible and adaptable, yet stil retain the shape of whatever they were meant to contain. I won't tolerate everything and anything. I tolerate a lot, but I have my limits.

Those are my thoughts about religion, freedom and tolerance, but having limits (refusing medical treatment as an example, rituals that endangers people, etc).

2) a: Not all married couples are able to have children. b: That is left between the couple to decide (but I don't believe in divorce). c: The last question is absurd.

Not fired up by anything. Not even a rant either : rant - To speak or write in a angry or violent manner; rave.

I'm not angry nor violent.

It is good to wonder. Be curious. :)

There can be no such thing when marriage, despite modern belief, is a religios duty.

Then atheists getting married should be illegal, too.

The fact is that marriage is, and has been for quite some time, a civil affair rather than a religious one. You can wave your hands however you want over whatever alter you want, but you can't do your taxes 'married filing jointly' until you've each signed the paper at the courthouse.

Inform me when an atheist has their rights performed by a priest.

every time they lie to one to appease their significant other.

and you do realize you can get married without a priest, right?

How does one elope without a priest? Where?

Las Vegas. D'oh! Of course.

Those drive-thru "marriages" don't really witness anything substantial. For f***k's sake, you can get married by an Elvis impersonator in that city.

I agree with the OP :) If you want rights, you gotta fight for them. Looks like the LGBT community already is, so we've got no problem there.

Wow, the ignorance of some people is astounding ;)

People who disagree with you aren't ignorant by default. They're just people disagreeing with you. If you don't see it my way, I can call you ignorant. But when the word is batted around like, this, it loses its meaning.

But I can look down upon them.

You mean intolerant to drastic change and an acceptance of what is unacceptable.

yes, you can look down on them. you can't deny them their legal rights, though. you seem to think that if it's not a religious ceremony then it's not a marriage? well that's your personal hangup; not something you can legislate.
