The question is, who is reading these books?

The ignorant, the gullible, and the desperate.

Exactly!
And those who find the answer for everything in books. I mean those who never dare to think differently from the main flock.

This brings up the nature/nurture argument, doesn't it?

Not an argument, but a fact. There's no disbalance in Nature, but too many argues/discussions/wars in politics, religion, philosophy etc., that's based on reading and misunderstanding the Books. It would never happen if people could:
1) analyse everything written in the books correctly;
2) be taught by Nature.
Choose one point? :wink:

Yes, the fact is that there is always some sort of interplay between Nature and Nurture. I can'r be purely one or the other.

An amusing superstition. The reality, as I've observed as a biologist, is that there is no balance in nature.

edit to dogbrain: as a biologist, I disagree.
It's not that there is no balance in nature, but that the balance is dynamic.

How can nature exist without balance? (Dynamic) balance is a cosmic principle.

"Nature" could very well be a temporary state that is, nevertheless careening into the abyss. One doesn't say that a teetering fishbowl is "balanced" the instant before it shatters.

Oh come on, your not suggesting that because we cant prove religion wrong, we have to accept it? In that case I'll start believing in Bertrand Russells orbiting teapot. Science cannot prove or disprove the existnce of god but it can and has on many occasions disproved religious hypothosis (arguably creationism for one). each time science comes up with an answer for something that previously had a superstitious explaination the probability for the existance of god decreases.

Why? do you find reason and logic too challenging

Of course some of Darwins theories have proven false thats the very nature of scientific debate that I whole heartedly support. However Darwins theory still forms the basis of modern evolutionary biology.

i can see where he's coming from. in my experience i've found atheist fanatics more pushy than religious fanatics when they try to convert someone. I'm atheist, so i don't have to deal with other atheists trying to convert me, but i've seen more atheists become complete a**holes in a religious debate than religious people.
