On my own examination, while 'Free Will' exists where we can choose to do exactly what we want to do within the confines of our situation at any given point (confines being physical/neurological/mental energy or fatigue/health/social contract/hunger/etc.) its the front end - where we get our desires and urges, or our reactions to stimuli, that pose the real problem to its existence. Even moral decisions that take days, weeks, years, are all subject to the flow of stimuli - 'signs' in the world around a person or symbolic extractions even compound that issue more. If we could make decisions completely independent of internal and external stimuli it would be one thing but, by all intents and purposes it seems like both sides of the input factors are ultimately fully external factors. That places the soul, if it exists, as much more of a bound and gagged observer than an active participant in shaping our behaviors or choices.
