In this case they would have a monopoly which is about as bad as something being Government run.


What alternatives would you suggest? Have more Saturn V's made? Remake the wheel totally? Procrastinate? There are companies like Space X which are doing a fair bit of rocket building and transportation of cargo, so maybe they and their competitors would be a good choice.

I'm much more interested in non-rocket launch means to be honest. We have the fortune of being in the beginning of the Space Plane age. The research done into nano-materials will probably lead to a space elevator in the coming decades

A space elevator would certainly allow for a lot of rapid development in space if it every can be built. The major issues though would be, once you have the materials even, the method of construction and its implementation.
