Occupiers are achieving NOTHING
The Jubilee Laws are religious customs, and are therefore irrelevant to the rule of secular law. It is stupid to presume otherwise.
May as well cite Hogwarts' Charter & Bylaws to get a free order of fries from MacDonald's.

10 points to Gryffindor!
When you foreclose on someones house you are not only stealing someones property but you are dispossessing the children , grand children and all infinite future generations from their rightful inheritance. You are creating a society where a few rich landlords own all the land forever.
No, you're kicking out a deadbeat who is squatting on your property. They don't own it until they've finished paying for it.
That is simply not true. The person who lives in the house is the owner of the property. If the house is mortgaged and the owner cannot make his payments the bank can temporarily kick the owner out and rent out the house in order to pay off the mortgage. But on then Jubilee year the bank must return the house to the original owner.
The Jubilee laws are the basis of land reform that any civilized society must adopt these laws or else there will be an unacceptable gap between the rich and the poor.
HOWEVER, while laws against killing and stealing are part of our secular legal system, the Jubilee Laws are not.
Another way to look at it is that citing Jubilee Laws in our secular legal system is like a child saying that because the neighbors let their kids have what they want, then his own parents should do so too - this kind of kid logic is a contradiction in terms.
Citing someone else's laws is a pith-poor way to argue one's case.

The Emancipation Amendment to the Constitutuin is based on the Jubilee laws. The land reform aspect of the Jubilee was proposed when each slave was promised 40 acres and a mule.
The ringing of the Liberty Bell was also based on the Jubilee although in ancient days horns were used.

To assume that a foreclosed property only affects the delinquent owners (who may not even be the occupants - rental properties are foreclosed on as well), is extremely short-sighted and foolish. Foreclosures can destroy an entire neighborhood's value. How many homeowners who are current on their payments are underwater because of declining property values for this very reason?
And I wouldn't say OWS has accomplished nothing:

JWC was just kidding about your whining -only funny if you got it- I don't think anyone meant any harm.
My NT wife just got into one of these with an NT facebook friend.
My strategy if someone says something I don't understand is to assume it was some kinda joke.
does not always work but it is better than getting mad.
No, I wasn't completely kidding about the whining; but I meant it in more of a tough love way. Sometimes you just gotta 'man up' and live your life. The world can be a f**ked up place. There is no 'solution' to murder, starvation or poverty; these things will always happen to some degree. There will always be winners and there will always be losers. Competition is a good thing. Eliminating competition can't make everyone winners, in fact, it makes everyone losers. Without competition everyone loses the benefit of the products created by the competitively inspired mind. More than, money or power; the greatest men among us are motivated by glory. Remove competition and you remove winners. So, my kind suggestion to you is to not focus on what we humans do as a species; instead focus on what you do and can do as an individual to win as much as you can and not be one more loser who just quit playing the game.
are you saying here that in capitalist societies the losers benefit from the innovations of the winners? i don't think that really makes sense.
Yeah where are my benifits from the winners of society? huh....lol

An actual Year of Jubilee would be nice. Hey, if you want to keep mimicking things others say, how about here: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt179819.html Although I think you may mean to mock, if you also happen to spread this idea around at the same time it might actually be useful for spaceflight if the right people hear it and decide to steal it for their own gain in the process.

i think you need some tough love here, yourself:
knock it off as she is as entitled to wishing the world would change as you are to your delusions that the proper path in life is always competitive.
I clearly stated that I was not trying to be nasty, more like motivational. But I understand that you would want to skew the meaning of my statements since you disagree with them.
Never said she wasn't entitled to wish whatever she wants, just pointing out the futility of wishing for something that is not possible.
Nor did I say that the proper path in life is always competitive, just pointing out what life would be like without competition.
Learn to read.
Well I don't exactly see how telling someone how whiny you think they are when they are only expressing their opinion and participating in political discussion is motivational.
What would it take to motivate you to quit feeling sorry for yourself?
I think you're getting a little personal......I don't really want to go into my life right now so if you really want to know about my life go read my posts in other forums where that sort of thing belongs. But if you must know I have severe depression.....makes me feel like crap all the time so yes I tend to feel rather down most of the time. So I doubt anything you could say over the internet would prevent me from ever feeling sorry for myself.....not to mention I feel I have every right to feel sorry for myself at times because I've got a lot to deal with.
Still though what has any of this got to do with the topic at hand? I dislike capitalism, the way society is set up and I like the idea of protesting about it hence the reason I do not oppose the Occupy '(insert location)' protests.....how you get that I feel sorry for myself, constantly whine ect. from that I am not sure and I am even less sure how it is relevent to the topic at hand.

Well it all depends on who you see as winners and who you see as losers now doesn't it.

That's because the person in the house ain't paying their mortgage, which is more like a bailiff towing your car because you got it on credit and stopped paying the installments.
why aren't they paying their morgage.....could it have anything to do with the job shortage or insulting wages people are hired for?
