Most of my problems with my country have to do with my own province
-Language police
-Institutionalized prejudice
-Openly bigoted politicians like Pauline Marois
-Revisionist history
-Corruption
-High taxes with little apparent benefit
-We have hydro yet electricity is not that cheap
-Nontransparent nature of our provincial government's financial choices
-Recent events happening in Montreal as well as Loi 78 which cracks down on right to assembly
-The Federal government does nothing about all this instead funneling money into Quebec to ensure it stays happy and does not secede
-Extremely poor road infrastructure (despite such high taxes... where does all the money go? *cough*)
-First past the post system of voting is causing political stasis and false majorities
... to name a few problems I have with Canada/Quebec

Oops, I didn't see this before.
From you this is a compliment.
Thank you! :D

To paraphrase a line in The Sound of Music: how clumsy of me, I meant it as an insult.

Yes, but an insult from the left is always taken as a compliment. The more scathing the better.
:D

pfft the left and right are just two sides of the same damn coin....Its a matter of how extreme one is that makes the difference.

You've really been on a raptor hunt lately haven't you....... :P

maybe someones a little on the paranoid side? :? ...if you think you're the reason I post in these threads sorry to disappoint you.

depends how to interpret the word country. My countries don't exist.

I live in a country that doesn't exist. I live in Belgium. Last time, it took them 500 days to form a government, and this only 18 hours after there credit rating got degraded. And it was almost identical to the caretaker government they had before (WTF??? 500 days for this?).

I live in a federation that doesn't exist either. I live in the european union. Instead of the f word, they just call it "the community". I suppose you are all aware of the euro mess, like in Belgium, they'll rush the solution at the last minute. They'll probably agree on eurobond the weekend before greece leaves the euro, or something like that. This is so Belgian. This is why van rompoy, the current EU president, was a Belgian prime minister, he has experience with this s**t.

My two counties are very similar in craziness. Technocratic, complicated, no one knows how they function. It takes them for ever to agree on anything, but somehow they do.

Hardly. The Democrats and Republicans are very similar (so if that's what you mean by left and right then you are correct) but I consider the Democrats to be right wing in any case. But you can hardly call groups like, say, Socialist Party USA and the Constitution Party different sides of the same coin.

Well I was more referring to democrats and republicans with that, not to mention if you look at the extreme right and the extreme left they do resemble each other.

I hate the selfishness, the lack of self-respect and respect for each other so many seem to have, the lack of community feeling. I hate the legacy of Thatcher, the waste of talent, the lack of hope or real prospects for many people, particularly in the former industrial areas of my country. I hate that this unelected excuse for a government is attempting to tear away a social safety net without creating employment, demonising the poor while funnelling cash to their rich mates. I hate the compliance of the right wing press with this process, they all sh*t in the same pot. I hate the Tories in the South East who have no understanding of the damage they cause while whinig about public sector workers in the regions, ignoring the fact that their precious market failed to replace the private sector manufacturing jobs that were flushed away by it.

What I dislike most about my country is that a large portion of it's population thinks that the "right to life" means that they have the right to force strangers to pay for the food they eat and water they drink.

Depends on what you mean by extreme left. The hard-line, Stalinist communists do have a lot of similarities with Fascists, certainly. But ,on the other hand, libertarian socialists or anarcho-syndicalists are pretty different from Fascists.

Didn't you claim to be a 'taxpayer' in the lsd thread? how do you pull that off if you're 15...since you have to be 16 to work in most states?

14 is usually the minimum age but with restrictions.
If your working then you're most likely getting taxed.

Even aside from income tax there's still sales tax and that doesn't matter how old you are.

If you're spending someone else's money, then they're the taxpayer, not you.
