I wish that there were no settlements where they are but considering the primitive state of the middle east, the last thing we need are groups who only live amongst their own kind. The Jews and the Muslims should live alongside each other, shop at the same grocery stores, eat at the same restaurants, and have their children attend the same schools. It works in Singapore, it can work here if the Muslims would learn a little tolerance to those who don't share their beliefs.
The UN is an immoral body, capable of nothing, and when it does act or condemn, it is on the behalf of tyrants and human rights violators of the worse offenses against humanity... and against a democratic socialist state that has done more for humanity in the last 50 years then all arab nations who surround it combined.
The Palestinians are the cause of their own misery. The prisoners that Israel holds are mostly scum who should be hanged. The injuries and children that have died is the fault of the Palestinian political and military machine.

Unfiltered opinion: the way Muslims as a whole are demonized by not just some of the people here, but by western society in general, makes me SICK. It seems like the life of an Israeli is worth that of 100 Muslims, whether they be Palestinians, Iranians, you name it. Please, develop some compassion people. That is all.
Singapore isn't exactly the most liberal country on Earth, though. It routinely censors religious debates and content that may be considered "offensive" to one set of religious fairy cake believers or the other. It's really not a model I would necessarily choose.
Agreed - why would Israel, or indeed any country on Earth, take lessons on human rights from the likes of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Yemen? Why would they take any notice of an organisation of some of the world's very worst child rapists, child murderers, child slavers, women repressors, terrorist funders, spirit crushers as these lot? If people were in Israel's position I think most people would do the exact same thing as what they're doing now.
Can anyone list any country in the OIC delegation that people would actually want to live in (I'll make a partial exception for Turkey)? Almost none of those countries, to a man, woman and child, offer any decent guarantee of freedom.
Most of the surrounding countries are simply prosperous because of Western and Israeli technology and the oil that comes from the region. Spiritually, they're still in the gutter. Anything else of worth that they do actually have to offer, they readily destroy.
Agreed. If you arm children and brainwash them into fighting the enemy, if you fire rockets from places where children are, if you use and abuse children in your disgusting terror war, don't be surprised if those children end up unfortunately being killed.
When Muslims kill and rape Muslim women and sell their young children off to disgusting old men with impunity or destroy Muslim holy sites, Muslim outrage is muted (to put it mildly). When Palestinian children end up being killed during operations where Israel defends itself, Israel is automatically evil.

Don't confuse criticism of or dislike of Islam and criticism of the behaviour of Islamist fanatics like Hamas with simple hatred of Muslims. There is both in Western society, but the second type is mainly by the ignorant and the bigoted.
And all human life should be sacred.

Well, it's the impression I'm getting while reading some of these comments. Stop labeling the entire region as "primitive". What really pisses me off is that the biggest reason why the Middle East is in its current state is because their culture, society, and way of life has been meddled with and in the long run destroyed by supposedly "advanced" and "civilized" nations. Russia did a lot of the damage, but you're fooling yourself if you think our involvement has brought "prosperity".
They should just take advice dont mess with countries you cannot take on, at least for a while until you have the technology and man power to do so. In he meantime they are just going to have to deal with it until they come to reason and muster the massive weaponry to do so.

Yeah, just like the US air force waited until Hiroshima and Nagasaki was evacuated, right?
I might have believed your caveat had it not been for your sand and goat faeces reference. You're a vile xenophobe, now you are backpeddling when called out on it.
This mentality seems to be a common denominator across the pro-Israel lobby though, this sort of racism doesnt help Israel's case.

Yes but Singapore is the only model I can think of that is of the "Modernization without Westernization" class of countries who integrate people of varying number of differences, from ethnicity to religious, the best. The US and western model is only possible with a heavy use of reeducation camps as our values are not easily swappable because of Islam's inherent incompatibility with Liberty.
If Palestine became singapore that would be progress. Westernization would also be a basic requirement in the sense that basic human rights will be protected and the state should be secular. But a secular modern society is something that they have to choose for themselves, something that we can support especially specific movements within their society who also want those things (which exist).
The Israelis are a secular society, that is their choice, spiritually they are in the same boat as all of Western Europe, and most of the secular US, but their humanitarian efforts trumps even most European countries, and their life saving technology is on the scene of every disaster that hits the middle east or anywhere on earth. I do not agree with their secularism. But they are brilliant people, and I believe that if someone made the case to them intellectually for Judaism that they would easily accept it, and discover that they can continue living most of their current "secular" lives, perhaps even a more elevated form of it.

Israel is far more technologically advanced in the realm of weaponry (we (the U.S.) did pay for them, by the way) and actually has a decent EWS (Early Warning System). Palestine has neither (sure, they have rockets, but nothing nearly as advanced as Israel). More Palestinian civilians are being killed than Israelis, yet Israel claims to be the victim, regardless of the incidents in which they started the conflicts. They lament about raising psychologically-damaged children in an environment of almost constant fighting and air raids, yet make no true effort to have an open dialog with the Palestinians. Hamas also needs to make an effort at having discussions with the Israelis and find some sort of middle ground on behalf of the Palestinian citizens. It is understandable that they would be outraged about a portion of their country being taken from them and handed over to the Jewish people (which is how they perceive the formation of Israel) and it is likewise understandable that Israel feels they owned the land first and deserve to be there. Until they learn to put aside this useless squabbling, there is no hope for progress. The United States also needs to keep their nose out of this situation. It has done nothing to help Israel and will do nothing to help forge relations between Israel and Palestine.

If the israelis want peace, they should be willing to negotiate.
.
Negotiate with people who plan to wipe you and yours off the face of the earth? Really?
You propose Algiers. I propose Dresden.

I agree in as far as Hamas are one part of the Jigsaw of the overall problem. The reason they got ushered to power and are unlikely to go anytime soon is by in large because of Israeli aggression.
If Israel wants a moderate Palestinian leadership it can do business with, it needs to prove its moral maturity by backing down, saying 'enough is enough' and calling off these damn airstrikes and infantry invasion.
Otherwise there is no chance of Fatah or the PFLP getting into office. Why would Palestinians want soft leaders when the chips are down?

You really don't get it. Most of the Muslims in the middle East want the Jews (and that includes the State of Israel) dead and gone.

Thats an opinion dressed up as fact.
Most muslims, including Palestinians, just want autonomy and their homelands back and a dignified existance. I don't think thats an unreasonable demand. Palestine needs leaders again like Yasser Arafat, who held out the olive branch in spite of Hamas and their kin.
The problematic facet caused within Gaza is Hamas and their extremist interpretation of Islam. Israel's current route of aggression is pushing ordinary Palestinians away from supporting moderation.
