School Confiscates Cupcakes Decorated with Toy Soldiers
My son was proficient with a rifle at age seven, taught by his Dad.My ex had a gun at that age and was ex-military, so he trained him well in gun safety. He started out with a old single shot 22,it was his grandpa's.Got his first deer at age ten.He was bullied at school,he had a speech problem and later alternative school. He never brought a gun to school or even thought about shooting another person. One reason(my opinion) is that when you hunt you know what a bullet does to a living being. Many city kids are disconnected and have never seen death.
The only thing he did to a bully was to throw an apple across the lunch room at the kid.His aim was true and it hit the bully square in the nuts. The apple exploded upon impact,a great cheer went up in the lunch room.He was in trouble at school for a few days(but not a home,I thought it was funny as hell). It was worth it,bullies avoided him after that.
That school might want to take apples off the menu, they can be lobbed at someone like a grenade. ![]()

I like how the picture also illustrates the amazing brass flinging ability of the MP5 series, and the K spits 'em out at an even faster clip than the full length versions. I used to hate working machine gun shoots next to booths running H&Ks, it would never fail that I'd be bent over digging out a magazine or something and catch a full shower of hot brass on the back of my neck. It's even worse if it's the SD version, or god forbid someone who's screwed a can onto a K or PDW, as the added back-pressure just makes it throw the empties with even more velocity.
I've had HOT 5.56 brass go down my shirt next to my skin.
Leaves burn marks.

Yeah, whatever you say.
/\ Note I said I might be, not that I am.
You couldn't even begin to "play" me but just by saying that's what your trying to do you're admitting to trolling.
Others have asked about the "says the boy who lied about the German pirates" thing and I've explained in detail.
You're the one that made it up, remember?
I'll leave it at that but you can do whatever.
This has gotten too off topic.

I've had you tying yourself in knots for months, and made you complicit in your own ridicule. Begin to play you? I've already reached the coda the put my bow back down.

That will be the next thing confiscated at schools, "apple grenades" since they can be thrown and will fragment. The stem will be called the pin.

And, instead of toys that glorify gun violence, maybe they could pass out some of these

Perfectly harmless. No inappropriate or violent behaviours promoted.
But they are naked.
A Palestinian boy recently made the mistake of playing with a toy gun.

Usually not a good idea to pull a real looking toy gun on someone with a real one.
Good Darwin award candidate, there. It'll have to be awarded posthumously, though.

That's natural selection in action! He can get an honorable mention, though I think you have to be 16 to be eligible for the award. It's bad parenting too. My dad once told me to bring in the toy guns and put them away (even though they had orange tips) when the cops were doing something on my street.

Leaves burn marks.
The worst firearms related injury I've ever suffered was a burn to the web of my hand between the thumb and index finger from when I grabbed the edge of a range bench and didn't notice the hot shell sitting there. It was a .22 Stinger, and you wouldn't think something that small would give such a bad burn, but the scar on my hand would say otherwise. It didn't feel too good, but I've seen someone get M1 thumb before, so I feel relatively lucky.

I'm a lefty and luckily the M1 I've shot had a drop-in modification to prevent "Garand thumb". Somehow it's during cleaning that I tend to hurt myself- just minor stuff though, never an uncleared chamber.

I thought about, why I was a little disturbed, when I heard of plastic soldiers on cakes for little children. So first thing was easy: I am simply not used to it. I was thinking about why to put such stuff on a cake. Beside the fact that it weird for me, because of not knowing that habbit, there was somehing that made me feel not so good.
So I absolutely do not think, that such a small toy soldier on a cake, would get an 8 year old into grabbing his dads weapon and shooting his classcomerades out of fun. I think there are many things gathered together that leads to such actions. (Family background, social surrounding, political surrounding, school system, social system, bad luck when it comes to experiences with classcomerades, bullying, ability to become a weapon, ..............................) and no little plastic soldier on a cake. ^^
Thing is for me that "soldier" is a real hard topic for a child on my oppinions. I read about your thoughts, and many of you seem to link soldier as something that is very positive, so someone mentioned soldiers to be heroes, so why shouldnt a child get used to it, to seem that as an idol. So I think a comparison to a firefighter is a good one, if someone forbid to add some little plastic fire fighters on a cake, everybody would ask, whats so bad about presenting little fire fighters to children, because they are doing an important work and are risking their lives for others.
Thing is that because of our history, soldier is a hard topic. So sure, soldiers are risking their lifes for their country. But in my society we all grew up with grand- or grandgrandfathers, that had to face themselfs with the results of the second world war. So most people in my country absolutely feel, that the sins done in second world war, were not just. Many cruel things were done by military, when Hitler wanted to clear "area in the east" to free it for "the german holy blood", so it can spread further. I dont think, I need to explain, what was meant with that. So everyone with older family members was earlier or later pushed to think about "How much fault had my own relatives in this?" So there were people, that really believed in this Nazi stuff. There were also many more that were forced into military, with the only solution to do as you are told, or get shot or forced into KZ for being a "traitor on holy german blood". Dumb Nazis were not only harsh against others, but also harsh against their own folk. So even small stuff like saying small critism about the Nazi politic, was a one way road into KZ. So from the first oppinion it seems simple: "There was no fault, because my relative was forced to do as he was ordered, and had no choice of doing otherwise." So this would lead to being the soldiers chief on being responsible for this crimes. The soldiers chief had the same option: Do as he was ordered from his chief, or get killed. So the fault, goes on to the chiefs, chiefs... But for the chiefs, chiefs its again the same. Which leads us to the nurnberg processes, where everyone was excusing himself with the orders they had and blaming the ones above. In the end this leads to Hitler who is responsible for everything, and all others being victims. Would be nice, but one armed man alone never could have started a world war.
So the thing is, a soldier is related to much more thoughts, then a fire fighter for me. Fire fighter is a topic easy to present to a child: Hero, risking his life for his neighbors. Soldier: A person willing to give his live for his country, but someone who has to carry an enourmous responsibilty with him, when willing to fight for his country, because he will only be a hero, if the orders given from his country are heroic. But in the same also someone that can become an essential part for murder on people, crimes done in the name of his country, brutal slavery of nations and countries, ... if the orders given from his country are in this way. So when talking about soldiers, this is something that needs to be mentioned as well for me. Because I think an important part for the Nazis crime was their taking of the youth the decade before, so all kids were forced to join "Hitler youth", where their leaders told them only the positive aspects of being a soldier. So being a soldier automatic meant for this kids: Being a hero, being cool, being important. It was only linked with the positive aspects, so many of them followed their leaders later so blindly, because being a soldier automatic meant to be something positive, so no need about thinking of his responsibilty of doing bad things, when a soldier cant do bad things anyway.
So when talking about soldiers to my child, I would feel myself responsible to talk about the good aspects of being a soldier, but also about the bad aspects. So I dont think that this discussion should be spared from a child, its something you have to do earlier or later, as you have to explain your child the thing about "Where do the babies come from and what is sex. Why start people to seek relationships, when they get older..." You cant run away from that, someday you have to talk about that topic.
But I really wouldnt be happy, if this discussion was forced on me because of someones classcomerades parents, putting a naked plastic couple, having sex, on some cupcakes. XD So sex is definitely not itself something bad, as isnt a soldier, its a complete natural thing, but with good and bad topics (So as example I had to explain, why you had to take care of others, that there are people that want to do that on violence and so on... simply a hard topic as well, but one thats also need to be explained when talking and explaining about sex, as you need to talk about soldiers being able to crimes in the name of their country.) related to it, and its something you have to explain your child sooner or later. And I dont think either that a naked plastic couple having sex, would lead to 8 years child doing a gangbang. ^^ But forcing that discussion on all parents of a class, because of some plastic figures... so I would have some bad feelings against those parents, for surprising me with that. XD
.22s run at a decent pressure, even if they have a relatively small powder charge; they'll be as hot as anything else out there.
I've found .22s from autos to be the worst in regards to them getting in places where they cause the most damage (bouncing off the wall of a stall will do it), and that's due to the small size you mention. It's hard for a .45 Auto case to fall down your shirt, but a .22 will find its way.
I found the concussion of anything over a .38 Special to be the biggest bother when I used to go to the range (indoors); the blast bouncing off the stall can add up to a headache in short order if you're prone to that sort of thing. I don't like indoor ranges for that reason.
According to the article he was 17. I had a few real guns at that age and had no use for toy ones. I did at one time consider getting an airsoft MP-5 to use to screw with people but decided it would be better not to.
Actually, my first time getting pwned by hot brass was a .22 Stinger from Ruger 10/22. I found out Stingers come out a lot hotter at both ends of the rifle than regular .22 LR. Another time I had a casing from my S&W 10mm eject, bounce off of a barricade, and land between the lens on my shooting glasses and my eye. Another time I was shooting in a John C. Garand match from prone and had a casing from someone’s M1 land on the back of my neck. Nothing like that 5.56 going down my shirt, though. In did a rain dance trying to get that out and it left burn marks all the way down. I’ve gotten lots of little shooter end related injuries.
I got M1 thumb the day I was looking to buy one at a gun show. I pulled the bolt back to lock it open but it only caught on the back of the follower, not all the way back to the actual locked position. When I was looking at it my thumb inadvertently pressed down on the follower just enough to release the bolt to slam shut on my thumb. I dropped an F-bomb. I did end up buying one, though. I found that it’s about impossible to get M1 thumb from loading the clip in and releasing the bolt. Usually the bolt needs a little boost to close on the first round. Even when it does close on its own the bolt is a lot slower because of having to overcome all of that friction of stripping a round from the fully loaded clip.
I don’t like indoor ranges for several reasons. The only real concussion issues shooting outdoors are with rifles with muzzle brakes, especially .50 BMG and .338 Lapua.
