Okay, I get it. You weren't being literal; just trying to make a point. I apologize - - my only defense is that so much common sense just goes over our heads when it comes to us Aspies.
That, and I failed to read ghandi's immediate post you were responding to.

I'm using sonofghandi's rationale (lack of it) for the gun control he feels we should have in this argument.
It should be obvious.
I'm about done with both of these topics.
At least when expressing opinions I actualy use words like In my opinion," "I believe," and "I feel" when it comes to opinions instead of a whole boatload of opinions presented as if they were facts. And I do provide the reasoning behind my opinion, which you tend to ignore completely to instead rant about crazy liberals or to attempt to belittle me by insult and condescention.

You provide very little in the way of reasoning and rely instead on insulting others to somehow make a point (which you rarely do).

You are not interested in discussion, only abuse; although I must be a bit of a disappointment to you on that score.

Hey, I used "I feel" and "I think" for my position on this matter just like you did for the gun control you feel and think we should have. I guess for you it's only matter what side of the bread the butter is on. In reality, for me voter fraud is not enough of an issue to pursue with any real drive and to pursue it anyway would screw more people than whatever little value it would bring. The same can be said for gun control if you are at all honest and have an actual grip on non-hyperbole and non-emotional fueled reality.
As it stands I have no issue with standing in a long slow ass line then presenting a voter ID card and photo ID in order to get a ballot. At the same time, I have no issue with presenting a photo ID, doing a 4473 and NICS for a firearm purchase although I think it the 4473 and NICS are bullsh!t. However, there's a limit to what I'll tolerate for exercising either right.

Typical liberal view:
Voting: "We'll fight voter suppression to the death because it IS a right, godd@mnit! :x ."
Gun control: "Meh, guns are for the black helicopter theorist wackos and old fat white men who need guns to make up for their other inabilities. It's not a real right, anyway. ."

My view:
"Both are rights that while I'll grudgingly abide by some infringement I will not abide by further infringement. Freedom is not free and the risks of all freedoms are worth their benefits. I'd rather pull out all the stops and allow people to vote with no ID and repeatedly at every poll they can get to and allow pistols to be sold in vending machines than to go over the top with regulating either"

It aint gonna get no better'n that from me.

Ahhhh,
I think I understand a bit better now. You are trying to bring gun control into this thread, despite the fact that it is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Is there no topic that you can't somehow try to wedge this issue into?

Raptor wrote:

I am not easily swayed by emotions. I am extremely honest. I have the tendency to reserve my opinions until I feel well versed in the arguments from all sides, which I personally FEEL provides me with a slightly better grounding in reality than those who ignore or dismiss any opinions they don't like without a thought.

And every time I see you criticizing someone for the use of hyperbole I find it quite amusing.

I made the comparison on page one so it's nothing recent. The thing is that progressives like yourself and others here only see issues that pertain to what you define as "civil rights" and have the gall to accuse conservatives of being narrow minded.

But is the right to make a gun go bang bang of the same weighty category as legally exercising the right to vote, or to expect equal treatment in public? I could go my whole life without firing a gun and be perfectly happy, but take away my right to vote or participate in government, or treat me like a second class citizen, and suddenly my position in society has diminished considerably, both literally, and in the eyes of my fellow citizens.

I think you know that I know that you know from our past threads on the subject that there's more to it than making a gun go bang.
Is there more to voting than driving your old '63 Nova to the polls??

You should have just let that slide and allowed people to believe you have the Nova. Most would say that the '63 Nova is st least a better looking car.
It's also an ineffective way to evade my point about rights.

I'll let you in on a factoid - other than missing headlight rings, along with patches of rust and dings, and a trashed interior, that two door metallic green Valiant is a virtual clone of my car!
But seriously? A Nova is a better looking car? To who, the blind?!?!

For that era I'd definitely be inclined toward a '67 Mustang GT fastback.

Well, I must admit, I'm obviously partial.
