I'm familiar with the differences, but to the average layperson the distinction isn't clear and yes, you are splitting hairs to waste time. Even if it's legal to carry, it's not legal to brandish them in an attempt to intimidate others. You're trying to pretend that these guys have the right to threaten and intimidate their opponents, you can spin and flop around all you like, but that is what you're defending.
As for insults, you've always been better at those than actually raising valid points.

What about a REAL right wing facist government, not just an imaginary one, where they are rounding up leftist protestors and putting them in camps for exercising free speech that the governing regime finds "offensive"?

It's much better to be murdered by private citizen right-wing fascists, than by statist ones I suppose? For that matter, you assume under a genuinely fascist state that I wouldn't switch to supporting armed insurrection. Fascism doesn't abide by rule of law in the same way liberal democracy does - if the state doesn't allow for dissent, that makes violently resisting the state far more justified than in a liberal democracy.
I'm more concerned about the day the fascists and antifa decide to start busting off shots at each other with no concern for the relatively non-violent liberal/conservative/socialist/libertarian/not-radical folks caught in the crossfire, or for the ramifications of what might follow. Once the shooting has started everyone who has a gun on the opposition is a legitimate target so even if you had no intentions of violence, all it takes is one moron to fire shots to set both sides off and with the potential to harm people who may have had no intentions of actually engaging in deadly violence that day.
I'm not entirely sure it's appropriate to bring cudgels to protests, and don't like that people who don't agree with the radicals might feel compelled to just because they're concerned about 'the other guys', anything more deadly represents a bigger potential for things to turn real ugly, real quick.
It also puts the state in a position where they may feel obliged to respond with overwhelming force. I'm sure that will end well.
Anyways, like I already said, I'm not advocating for the state to take your guns, I'm saying they don't belong at a protest.
