I am not on your back, and not pushing hatred at you. I admit that I may have been wrong and asking you to clarify how wrong I may have been. You said "a man does not become a woman simply by wearing women's clothing" and I was a big dummy that mistook that as a statement about meaning that trans women are just men in dresses. I am deeply sorry if I offended you.

Of course, women can police the bathroom themselves...but why must they have to police the bathroom?

Not advocating IDing people. Or actually stopping people to ask questions.

Just security guards using common sense, and being around in case something happens.

I guess part of the problem is, not everywhere a consensus about common sense in these matters exists.
For me, it's simple: toilets don't even need to be segregated, everyone goes around their own business and do their best not to disturb others and to keep the place clean. Any inappropriate behavior should meet instant reaction.

I still wouldn’t viscerally like to see a woman in the bathroom with me.

But if I had to adjust to that, c’est la vie.

I wouldn’t have a problem with it as long as there were stalls and there weren’t urinals out in the open. Of course, it’d probably be a good idea to have separate bathrooms for people who want more privacy.

A lot of places have a family bathroom which is really nice for parents with young children.

When Frozen II came out some dads took their little girls into the men's room. There wasn't a family bathroom available at the movie theater.

My only concerns about sharing a bathroom with someone else revolves around the noises, the smells, and the lack of toilet (bog) paper.  Sometimes, privacy is simply needed, especially when one is not feeling well.

I spent a few years in the Navy, and communal 'latrines' are normal -- you either get used to sitting next to strangers, or you get used to developing constipation and/or kidney stones.  And woe betide the sailor who musters in a soiled uniform...

men's toilets, yuk. Graffiti, pee splash, urinals, gross. It might have a civilising effect on us if we shared.

I wonder how well received shared bathrooms would be in the U.S. I think if there were shared bathrooms with urinals in the open for men, then there should be out in the open non-stall toilets for women to use. I think that would be more equal.

Even with stalls, I would assume women would be less comfortable in general with having strange men in the adjoining stalls hearing them urinate. Between men's and women's public bathrooms though, my wife has said that women's toilets are more disgusting because many women hover over the toilet seats to urinate rather that actually sitting on the toilet seats and as such end up urinating on and around the toilets. Guys definitely miss their marks too, but I take her word for it that it can be worse with women in that regard.

Meh. They are probably equally gross. Lots of people don’t bother cleaning up after themselves - male and female.

Open, non-stall toilets are a bad idea. There are certain scenarios that require privacy to ensure comfort. If I was a male, I probably wouldn’t use a urinal, either. I'd use a stall if it was at all possible.

I don’t change my clothes in women’s locker rooms. I like a fair amount of privacy.

I can vouch for this. One of the jobs I had at uni was night janitor. Men and women are equally disgusting -- both miss their targets with equal volume, both neglect to clean up after themselves, and both will even eat in the stalls while they are otherwise "doing their business". Half-eaten sandwiches propped on the dispensers inside the stalls were evidence of that.

:eew:

The more boundaries are pushed, the more normal autistic people seem. :)

You're autistic?? BORING.

The rise of anti-trans “radical” feminists, explained

Known as TERFs, trans-exclusionary radical feminist groups are working with conservatives to push their anti-trans agenda.

Too biased. It's the "new nazi on the rise" kind of article, not really presenting actual views and postulates of the "explained" group.

My impression was very different but thanks for taking the time to read the article.

If a trans-species identity is mistreated, do they call the ACLU or ASPCA for advocacy?

One more explanation: I don't entirely agree with TERFs but I want to understand their stance and logic. I generally like to understand people I disagree with.

Where I disagree with both the TERFs and the Trans activists is their post-Marxist worldview that presents all the social conflicts in terms of opressors and the opressed. The two groups just disagree on transwomen's place in this picture.
I disagree with this picture as a whole.
