Answer: Being black in America is not a disadvantage.

I have been anti-CRT as anyone but because I believe it is a harmful solution to the problem, not because I believe there is no problem.

One reason being black in America is a disadvantage is you can not mask being black.

Why should people sort themselves by skin color at all? It seems like the immigrants have the better idea, not lumping themselves together with groups who have nothing in common with them save some superficial aspect of their appearance.

I agree with the principle and its free choice for people like Kmele Foster or Amala Ekpunobi as first generation immigrants or articulate conservatives like Coleman Hughes to choose to not identify with the wider black movements.

Certainly not. Every individual is entitled to think for themselves. If they can defend their ideas adequately then all well and good.

Rufo (FYI that guys lives like 10 minutes from me) has figured out how to call attention to these programs, but the disgust when people learn what's actually being taught in schools and boardrooms is completely genuine.

Somebody better tell the MAGA parents and the Asian "tiger moms" who've been sucked into this maelstrom of misinformation that CRT is actually only reserved for graduate level students in college and university

According to a 15 year veteran of K12 teaching
"Speaking as a veteran classroom teacher with 15 years of experience, I have never come across any K-12 curriculum that calls for the explicit teaching of critical race theory. It does not exist—it never has! Search if you want, but I promise that you won’t find anything. "

I can see why the NY Times dislikes Rufo, but what makes him wrong?

In America today its not your color that determines your success or failure, it has more to do with mental attitude. There are plenty of successful black Americans who would agree.

It is not bad. Some autistics can mask thus avoiding being discriminated against for their autistic behaviors, I can pass for non Jewish thus avoiding hate crimes, my ancestors avoided looking Jewish, they faked being goyim to make it. Back when homophobia was rampant gays hid it, you can not tell by looking at person if he is homosexual. There is no avoiding racists from knowing you are black. And lets face it the word black is associated with negativity, “It’s a black day”, “It’s a dark moment”

Yes, critical race theory is being taught in public schools - Editorial Washington Examiner
Quote:
Just this week, the Manhattan Institute’s Christopher Rufo reported that 30 public school districts in 15 states are teaching a book, Not My Idea, that tells readers that “whiteness” leads white people to make deals with the devil for “stolen land, stolen riches, and special favors.” White people get to “mess endlessly with the lives of your friends, neighbors, loved ones, and all fellow humans of color for the purpose of profit,” the book adds.

There are plenty of other examples that prove racial essentialism and collective guilt are being taught to young students. In Cupertino, California, an elementary school required third graders to rank themselves according to the “power and privilege” associated with their ethnicities. Schools in Buffalo, New York, taught students that “all white people” perpetuate “systemic racism” and had kindergarteners watch a video of dead black children, warning them about “racist police and state-sanctioned violence.” And in Arizona, the state’s education department sent out an “equity toolkit” to schools that claimed infants as young as 3 months old can start to show signs of racism and “remain strongly biased in favor of whiteness” by age 5.

If that’s not enough evidence, the nation’s largest teachers union outright endorsed the teaching of CRT to public school students in an agenda item it passed last week.

The claim that critical race theory is not being taught in primary schools is one of those it is literally true but intentionally misleading deflections. Elementary school kids are not studying legal and academic papers. The basic concepts are being taught in some locales.

What Rufo has done has sped up the backlash that would have happened anyway when their kiddos brought home assignments.

When arguing for being anti racist it does not help your cause to use a racist and sexist stereotype like “Tiger Moms”. Just because the term and the concept was coined by a Chinese-American women does not mean it is not a racist and sexist stereotype.

Sorta like how the romance languages associate left/sinister/evil there's a strong trend across the Indo-European languages associating terms like bright/light/fair/white with positive traits and dark/black/murky/swarthy with negative traits.

Yep.

Whoever invented the concept “In the black” must have been an anti racist :D

They use red ink for negative ledgers and black for positive. I wonder what the green and blue pens mean.

@ AS

1. The Manhattan Institute is a right wing think tank funded by Trump supporters. They have been flagged for publishing biased stories.

2. The source you used claim is based on trawling the education curriculum and eventually finding one book that he defines as CRT provided to students in certain number of schools. Please note that one book does not constitute teaching CRT. It merely is part of student reading. My memory of high-school is that a single publication is highly unlikely to change my values/attitudes so racist MAGA parents can sleep easy.

Sources?
Outside of the Koch Brothers most of the funders seem to be neo-cons and old fashioned pro business conservatives not MAGA’s. Any MAGA’s that did fund them did not like this article

They found course materials that is more that one book that uses CRT based beliefs even if it is not explicitly called Critical Race Theory. While I agree high schoolers can be rebellious against what is is taught to them these materials were taught to elementary school students. The nations largest teachers union openly supporting the teaching of Critical Race Theory is a good indicator that the principles of CRT are being taught and sans backlash it will become the predominant way to teach about racism and its history in America.

I'm afraid it's worse than I thought
https://democracyjournal.org/arguments/ ... -the-tank/

It seems the billionaire benefactors weren't fans of trump when he was a reality TV star but after 2016 they became his biggest financial donors.

I don't agree at all. It looks like they are cherry picking isolated examples of literature (given to students) and trying to use these as evidence for wholesale indoctrination which is simply not borne out in the evidence.

I think I posed this question about climate change and never heard from the naysayers again but:
Please find me one actual tenured academic in a recognised university who supports the claim that public schools in American are trying to indoctrinate white students on race

As with those who spend hours of their lives spouting nonsense about global warming, I suspect those supporting the existence of CRT in schools will come up with a similar number........zero
