I agree with the OP :) If you want rights, you gotta fight for them. Looks like the LGBT community already is, so we've got no problem there.

Wow, the ignorance of some people is astounding ;)

I see your point here, and I think you are right, so there is no need to "fight" over this here, as the OP said, it is something inevitable, so that can be called progress for gay marriage supporters, however, we can debate the issue here showing different points of views, which it is perfectly acceptable.

oscuria, why don't you look at it this way. The more gays there are, the less competition there are for women.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if you were part of Fred Phelps' little gang.

Second part first: I am not going to insult you because you aren't quite learned on my positions or beliefs, but assigning me as being a partner to his group is a STREEEEEEETCH.
I have made this point very clear before: I am not a Christian. There is nothing Christian about me except for the love of Jesus' words. However, I am a Conservative who values tradition
(though obviously not all tradition). Oh, and there is nothing religious about Phelps. Anyone who considers his group religious is an idiot.

First part second: There will also be more lesbians around.

I wasn't aware it was a serious question.

Oscuria needs to be forced to take a sociology of gender class and learn the difference between biological sex and gender identity, to confuse the two is to commit the fallacy of essentialism.

Try bisexuality, it gives you a wide range of options.

Yes, I am sure I will see the light after taking such a course. I will begin to cook, do the laundry, and listen to Cher. I'll pack up on Schick razors. Gender is a social construct!

To me there is no difference. Everything else is liberal jargon. Unless you happen to be a Hijra.

That would be perversion. How insightful your character is.

I don't quite understand, you don't believe gender is a social construct or do you believe it is?

and what do you mean by: "begin to cook, do the laundry, etc" it looks like you were implying those were not meant for men, sorry if I misunderstood if its not the case.

1. Joking, I don't think one can easily change their sexual orientation just like that.
2. Why would that be perversion?

1) I was being sarcastic. Joke joke, laugh laugh.

2)
a: Tell that to the women who say "I'm tired of men!"

b: Well, I would think it'd be perverse if after not finding a woman I go find me. What happens if I don't find any men? 8O

After being married and divorced twice, both of which were incredibly traumatizing, I have a different view of marriage. It seems to ruin good relationships. I am lucky in that I live in a state that legalizes domestic partnership for things such as health insurance, so my domestic partner of 5 years has full insurance thanks to my job. We are heterosexual, and I applaud states that recognize domestic partnerships regardless of the sexes of the partners.

The only reason I can see for getting married is so that you can be "next of kin" in the event of a medical emergency.
