Maybe machines could, but it seems like humans are unable to do so eaven with each other.

If ever a machine civilzation arose comparable to our own, the machines would certainly achieve a solidarity and purity of purpose unachievable by the human race. Or would there be dissenting voices even among machines? Machines modelled not on us but self-replicating and self-designing?

It may devolped like a unified orgism, with specic machines performing specific funtions, like specilized cells. Each macine may be unable to reproduce but the system as a whole may.

That all depends on how the general AI is constructed. To what purpose? As I've said before, it will probably be built for the military, and have top-down control. Its component parts would have a very clear master / servant relationship.

But evolution would also affect machines and once they achieved some independence "mutations" would make them unpredictable.

No.

And why not? What about emergence?

Not scared? You ought to be. You're only 29 after all, so you're going to live to see a lot of it come to life.

The only way to turn back is committed resistance. But dollars to doughnuts says there will be 99.995% apathy to the very end.

What about it? Can you show that 'emergence' is more than just another speculative concept?

You want emergence? Look at human development from conception, birth, to self-awareness.

Unless they used genetic algorithms (slooooooow) to control their 'evolution', this is very unlikely. It would be more like ... "Heavy snowfall from nuclear winter gives ranger units problems with glare; upgrade them with epicanthal folds and black eyes." Very deliberate. Not spontaneous.

I am self-serving.

And I am anti-human.

But I am neither shit nor cloud.

Good evening.

Essentially evolution is improvement by mistake (or by the function of a system in a way not anticipated). Happens with any system, machine or otherwise.

The first general AI will certainly be in a very naive state when it is turned on, since you can't get real sentient behavior out of the systems we have today, which act kind of like ants or bees: they don't need a lot of training, relatively speaking, but are very good at only a few things.

It will need a teacher to impart behavior, and that teacher will most likely be the US military. As such, it will probably be trained to have some inclination towards wiping out things it doesn't like outright and surviving at all costs, as well as a good working knowledge of deceit. You wouldn't expect anything other than highly calculating psychopathy, right?

(I'm not 'afraid' of this scenario btw)

Actually I DO expect your scenario of how things pan out will likely be wrong.

While many large steps have been with the military, many large steps have also NOT been with the military. Science or otherwise.

Additionally, even if the military were ahead at all times(something which theoretically approaches zero as you expand it to an infinite timeframe.), that does not mean progress is zero elsewhere until the military dictates otherwise.

While robots will be upgraded...human genetics will be altered, through a form of eugenics somehow. People fear it and don't want it, but it will happen. This results in simultaneous biological advances compared to the robotic advancements. The so called X-factor that will dim the advances made in cybernetics as well.

As a result, both will coincide for a very long time.

While this occurs, you will likely notice humans will also develop methods of cybernetics implants. Humans wanting to become more robotic to break their genetic limitations. This will result in either further diminishment of robotic evolution above possible human dominance.

In the end, the most likely scenario is the H-M merging.

Robotics develop on one bar.

Human bar is increase through eugenics and increase through robotic implants. Eventually humans will become more and more cybernetic most likely, resulting in their evolution into the equivalent of a robotic sentient organism.

This is the likeliest occurence.

However, Robots eliminating a weaker human master/creator race is so significantly unlikely to happen, you might as well consider it zero.

The end result would in fact be the Energy based organism. One whom has no corporeal form, and interacts at the fastest possible speed in relative spacetime. Whether that is possible through science is another question entirely. However, that is the process evolution moves towards on the greater scheme.

So in the end...even robots or human-transfered robot sentient organisms are inferior to the theoretic abilities of a possible energy-based being. So much for your robots.

:lmao:

Thats the biggest bunch of Bullshit I ever heard! Go ahead and try to comfort yourself that machines can never overtake biological beings. As for energy beings, just exactly HOW would they hold together and retain information???

No. It is the tendency of a biological population to exhibit one genetic trait over another, according to environmental pressures. Evolution does not imply 'improvement' at all. And, no, machines do not evolve and indeed do not need to evolve. They will need to modify themselves according to environmental conditions, but will be able to do so deliberately, and without all the slow, chaotic nonsense of evolution.
