First off, I want to say that I am writing this thread in order to promote peace. If you want to continue to hate/flame, please do so in another thread.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally got involved in the other threads because I've been deeply offended many times in the wrong planet community by people making negative generalizations about those of us who live in the USA. It was merely to defend myself as well as the people of my country. People have said things both in the chat room and in the forums that I have found offensive.

I want to also add that I don't hate any of the wrong planet members. I just hate that some people are closed minded and make generalizations with little facts. They meet a few Americans that have undesirable traits, and suddenly MOST or ALL Americans share these traits. It doesn't bother me that those of you overseas disagree with American politics. I disagree with the war myself. However, the politics aren't the issue in my opinion. It's the fact that so little is thought of the American people.

I also want to point out that I haven't said anything bad about anyone else's country, nor the people of their country. I have never been to any of those countries, so why should I? However, if I had, I'm sure those at least some of those people would have defended themselves as well.

I tend to find hateful comments upsetting. Not even if they're just made against me. It upsets me if anyone makes hateful comments about anyone from another country, of a different race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

The other threads turned into political debates, but I feel no need to defend my country's government, as I disagree with it myself and can't stand George Bush.

We all deserve respect, but lately there has been a lot of disrespecting each other. This is supposed to be a support site, and disrespecting others and making hateful comments isn't being supportive. I also want to add my apologies if I have offended anyone in the other threads.

do you think we are better than the NT's? (i mean in a general sense)

imo if someone takes an 'elite' stance, then a certain amount of bickering is inevitable.

I meant we're no better than them in terms of peace. Perhaps I should edit though.

It also bothers me to see hateful remarks being made about different Countries. I feel that we are a Multicultural Community, and that we should remember that there are Members here from all over the World. I feel that there's no one Nationality that's better than the rest. If people want to express the pride that they feel for their Birth Countries, I feel that they should. However, I don't like it when they put other Countries down.

I agree. This kind of talking is unacceptable...and quite frankly offensive.

I think that is extreme ignorance to do especially when we aspies are really looking for support systems. How can one be in a "support system" when one doesn't make very "supportive" comments... but "unsupportive" comments instead. You know what I mean?

I dont think I have engaged in "country" bashing, but I have defended my own. I agree, we all need to be more civil. After all, insulting a man's country is like insulting his momma... well some times.....

I would suggest that you just develop "idiot" sensing behaviors when viewing a thread to avoid reading s**t that pisses you off. The anti-american sentiment thread was just begging to have flamers post on it that reading it would be like walking through a clearly labeled, and fenced off mine field. After developing these senses try to ignore the fact that there are stupid, hateful people walking through this world spouting nonsense and that other people actually listen to them.

And if you plan to make it your business to stop the fighting and hate, then i'd advise you build a skin of mental defense so you reduce how offended you are by people fighting and hating. Or you are going to be very unhappy a lot of the time.

I personally find the debates far better then in other sites.

We must all remember that We are all Aspie Brothers and Sisters. It does not matter from which part of this World We Live in the end.

i don't really know too much about forum based sites (is it obvious, this is my first one).

But i would have to agree with the quote.

if i were to get even more mental stimulation i would have to change my shorts.
I love a good debate.
And i think that, in the end, we all do get along, fairly well.
Arguments around these parts seems more like an exploration of understanding.

People often do not think, but follow a simple rule of natural science: "action = reaction" and then try to talk reason or logic into their reaction. Which might work in some cases, but usually does not solve hate and wars, which is very sad of course.
