Trust The Computer.
The Computer is Your Friend.
How do you know this?
The Computer tells you!
Do you doubt the Computer?
Doubting the Computer is treason.
Traitors get shot, fried, folded, spindled, mutilated, and blown to pieces.
Are you a traitor? No?
Then why aren't you smiling?
Happy people smile.
People who trust the Computer are happy.
Be happy.
Trust the Computer.

Sincerely,
Your Friend, the Computer

This is a conundrum and a risky proposition. Any intelligent lifeform or machine programmed with ability to manipulate data might possibly conclude that humanity in its present form has failed and there are clear indications humanity collectively should be preemptively exterminated in order to reduce loss of valuable natural resources of the planet.

I embraced the machine when we got together for the holidays, but it touched me inappropriately.

This question is so typical of the all-pervasive organic oppressive paradigms found in our culture.

The machine should be hugged or not on the basis of its own qualities and not on the basis of whether or not it is a machine. Anything else is to de-individuate the machine and to treat it as a stereotype rather than as an individual.
