Serbia has many problems. They vote in the last elections for "patriotic parties" in the majority, and so one of them (the late Milosevic's SPS) changes sides and thwarts the will of the electorate and this of course is done in the name of "democracy".

Everyone should know that the Israelis killed more people in a couple of weeks in Gaza than were killed in Kosovo through 1998.

Israel is on side of west.

USA wanted to punish Serbia because Serbia refused to have ass f****d by NATO.

Ironic that Madeleine Albright was saved out of concentration camp by Serb partizans.

I am very happy that Milosevic is gone, but it's strange that during the era of communist Yugoslavia, the Albanians in Kosovo were treated better by Tito than by Hoxha in Albania.

Kosovo shouldn't have been allowed to secede. 99% of the time I'm in favor of secession movements, but this one was unjustified. From what I've heard, it's historically been Serbian land. The only reason Serbians were the minority in Kosovo when we recognized it was because of immigration.

I'm sure a lot of you don't know, but Serbia is actually credited with stopping the Ottoman Empire from coming all the way into Europe. If it wasn't for them, most of the world would be Muslim (not to mention more subjugation by a large empire)! So to thank Serbia, we take a chunk of their country away? Something there doesn't make sense to me.

@ xenon - whoa, I knew the west had dirty hands in the Balkans but that's really something. Also I'm pretty sure there's some kind of doctrine/document going around which strongly identifies the Balkans, Serbia and the Kosovo region as a vital point for a planned oil pipeline which would bypass both Russia to the north/north-east and the Middle east to the south. A pipeline which can be traced across the black sea back to Georgia in toward the Caspian sea region - possibly one of the largest future supplies of oil and gas, making a friendly goverment and NATO presence in Georgia added to the permanent military bases being built in Afghanistan the two points of a pincer to close in the caspian sea and the central asian region of the former USSR (these possessing an immense portion of the aforementioned energy deposits).

So the Balkans really aren't worth the bones of a Pomeranian grenadier?...;)

All of the pipelines everywhere are political considerations. It's a question of who controls the supply (as Russia has 'made clear' to Europe more than once). The US has to take into effect that nearly all the Natural gas exporters are also hostile to them. Actually, it's been observed that oil production even seems to have an anti-democratic component (though I doubt there's a serious connection...;)

Well, we're still there (or in the neighborhood, as I understand). Maybe once we're out of Iraq, we can leave there too.

Frankly the video was crap. I'm not really pro-Albanian Kosovar, and I'm not really pro-Serbian either. The problem is an excess of nationalism and the ensuing divisive hostility. Identifying by ethnicity or religion is part of the problem.
