Okay, I'm going to ask this question, no matter how many insults are thrown at me. But, why are the majority of autistics/neurotypicals fascinated with witches, wicca, gothic stuff, and basically agnostic stuff? I am asking this question because, I'm curious. Isn't that a good enough reason? Plus, most of the offensive statements are mainly opinions. And I have learned that those who walk on a path without trusting God only dig themselves into a deep, dark "pit". And within that "pit", it can be filled with hurt such as; abuse from the past, lack of love from parents, teachers, trust from others. What I have experienced with one family member who is now saved, he was into the gothic lifestyle during his middle-school all the way through his high school years. His attitude was very dark. There are questions that I would like to ask those with an agnostic lifestyle. What made you turn away from God? Were you angry at Him, due to your parents? Diagnosis of Autism? Are you a neurotypical, perhaps? Too many family members? Death of someone? Not getting what you want in your life? Could you even be a "positive" agnostic? I am not wanting to preach to anyone. That is not my place, nor my specialty. Hence, I am not a pastor.

I'm an athiest and not agnostic. I don't care if people believe in god or go to church and worship him. It's their life and their business but they have no business shoving their religion in my face like I have no business shoving my anti god religion in theirs. I will not argue it with them.

The reason why I don't believe in him is because it doesn't make any sense and things don't sync up in the bible. Why doesn't it mention dinosaurs? They existed and there is proof they had. I have also read how the earth might have been formed and I have heard about evolution and watched two shows on it. I think people are gullible for believing in the bible and are silly but it's their life and they can believe whatever they want. I notice how people have different beliefs about things and some believe there is more than one god so that tells me there is no right answer. Some believe you are going to hell for being gay or having a fetish or not believing in god. I was told you go to hell when you are bad and only good people go to heaven. I will not argue their beliefs and critisize them for it because it's very narrow minded and ignorant.

There is no god.

There is no "dark path". There is no devil or hell. There's no such thing as sin. I don't require saving from anything or anyone, except possibly from people that keep showing up at my door to "save me".

There exists only what you can see around you.

I'm incredibly saddened, frustrated and a little angry that I have to even say these things to someone. Religion and god have been invented by man. You need not look far for evidence of this: christian church has been splintered by MAN in so many directions they don't even resemble the same religion anymore. So, which one is the true religion? Yours? HA! You were merely born into it and brainwashed by your parents into believing that nonsense.

Both you and those wiccans and witches live in ignorance.

Why not pray to Julius Caesar? He died around the same time about 2000 years ago. Praying to either guy would be about equally as effective.

Erm, I think you might be confusing some terms here?
Agnostic simply means "not having knowledge" although it's generally taken to mean "not having divine knowledge" and usually used to mean someone who isn't sure about God. Sometimes they question it, sometimes they just don't think about it, but it's a very broad range of people.
Atheist is people who don't believe in God at all.
Wicca is generally supposed to be a life-affirming spirituality focused on the Earth, celebration of the seasons, life, rebirth, nature, etc. In the Pentagram (not to be confused with the satanic inverse pentagram) the five points represent the elements, Spirit being above the other four (which are Earth, Air, Fire, and Water)
Gothic is the people into wearing black and stuff, a lot of times they claim to be into witchcraft and stuff, but it's usually a garbled version, not like real Wicca. (Ok, I'm sure that's gonna piss some people off, but I'm not completely clear on the goth thing from a lot of perspectives.)
There are plenty of "positive" people who aren't sure what they believe. Some people don't turn away from God; lots simply aren't raised in a religion at all. People who refer to themselves as "spiritual but not religious" might fall into the category of agnostic. A great deal of people who practice Shinto-Buddhism also wouldn't refer to themselves as religious. (That's the really amazing thing about Buddhism.. it doesn't really contradict other religions, so wherever it went, it kinda melded with the local religions, which is why most people in Japan are Shinto-Buddhist.) Thich Nhat Hanh talks a bit about that concept in Living Buddha, Living Christ.. there's a bit where someone was asking him how he can be grateful without believing in a personified God.. urgh, I can't quite put it how he did, but it kinda answered your question I think.

(BTW, I also don't believe that evolution conflicts with creation, so I see things, er, differently, than most people anyways. Piers Anthony resolved (kinda) that one in his Incarnations of Immortality series too.. lol)

I was "wired not to believe" anything. My brain is so systematic that belief seems highly unnatural and unreal to me. I was raised in a religious family, but simply never connected to any of it. Diagnosis with AS came later, as did reading about atheism, religion, philosophy, ethics, etc. And I was never into Goth, wicca, witches, or other forms of what from my point of view represent belief.

Wicca is a religion by any normative definition. So is Buddhism, Shinto, Hinduism, and many others that are very different from Christianity, one of a handful of religions that teach the "saving" of people.

But Spokane_Girl and Dilbert said, there is no God, sin, dark path, hell, devil, or other supernatural stuff out there. At least that's how I experience the world.

Note: Many great details about all these religions, their beliefs, and who believes them can be found at the Pew Forum on Religion and Life (pewforum.org).

are you sure you're even using "neurotypicals" in the right context?

you seem to be saying in effect that pretty "everyone" is into that stuff.
neurotypicals=normal people
and as far as i know, a majority of "everyone" doesn't believe in wicca and such. the fact that there's maybe 6 different churches (maybe more) in the mile radius around my house and that they're all thriving contradict your misinformed propaganda

LOL, you know, you can just say "people" when referring to both ASD and NT people.

Lots of people find it interesting, I guess. (Especially when they're teenaged, I think.) I did, but it wasn't as interesting as I figured, so I lost interest. I never turned away from God though. I was never turned towards God in the first place. I've considered Christianity in the same way as I've considered Wicca, but it fell just as flat, for me. I am not sad or dark or brooding or any of those things. I'm just fine living a completely non-religious life. And I think more and more people are starting to feel the same way, because that's just how the world progresses. As knowledge fills the gaps, God has less and less to do.

I'm an atheist, I did believe in god until I was about 10 because it's what we learned at school and I just went along with it. But then I realised that the idea of a god is as unrealistic as it gets. I do however have an interest in things mystical/pagan/wiccan/mythical creatures etc, I've always been mad about that sort of thing.

Okay. I am going to be as gentle about this I can. First, while not all evolutionists are racists. Charles Darwin who formed the whole "Darwin Theory" is what helped caused the majority of racism. If you take the time to think about it. In his book "The Descent of Man" he speculated, "At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world." (Basically, meaning Negros). In addition, he subtitled his magnum opus "The Preservation of Favored Races in The Struggle for Life". Thomas Huxley, was the man responsible for advancing Darwinian doctrine, went so far as to say, "No rational man cognizant of the facts, believes of the average Negro is the equal, still less the superior, of the white man." Furthermore, for evolution to succeed, it is crucial that the unfit die as that the fittest survive. I wanted to tell you that even if you refuse God's love, God is within you, even if you don't want it right now. :) He is with you, even though your heart is filled with disgust and hatred towards Him. And, even if years down the road, you still hate Christians, because a "preppy" Christian has spat some Bible verses in your face, Jesus is still by your side.

Many people need to seek spiritual fulfillment. Some find that fulfillment in religion. Others find non-religious ways to fulfill this need. If you find spiritual enlightenment in a way other than through religion, religion becomes superfluous to you.

I am into that sort of stuff. But when I was growing up, the friends I hung out with were also into it, and they were NTs. So I dont think it is an autistic thing. I think perhaps some people are more prone to mystical thinking.

Well look, you have to see it from their POV. At that point in time nobody KNEW that all races of men were equal, and the evidence they had pointed towards not-equal by their standards, since many races of men had not yet developed any technology beyond basic tools made of natural materials, which is what a lot of non-human apes use today. In fact, some humans actually did get misclassified as a different species of ape because of this. Later, we discovered that a member of one race of human brought up amongst another race of human (black amongst white, white amongst black, it does not matter) will act and function like that race with no problem or difference, which proved we are all equal, but you can't blame people for not having that knowledge before it was demonstrated.

Also, most of the time when Darwin said "race", he was using it as synonymous with the word "species".

AND ANYWAY, that doesn't really have anything to do with Darwin's evolution theory, which would have eventually been SOMEONE's evolution theory even if Darwin had never lived, because yes, it turned out to be correct.

You're talking about something I have no experience of in my daliy life; most people in my region are not religious and hold few supernatural beliefs. I don't know where you get "the majority of" from concerning the witches etc.

A gothic trend has been "brewing" for quite a while. The first generation of goths gave birth to today's Emos (goths in Izods). I wonder who Emos will give birth to?

I have never been religious and church makes me itch. Someone asked me once if I believed in God and I said -I don't know, define "God". He looked at me like I was nuts but I thought it was a valid question. Do I believe in an old man in the sky that wiggled his fingers and poof created the cosmos? No, I don't. The closest thing I can come to is an idea of a font of consciousness from which all matter is constantly evolving. I don't know, it's just an idea. I'm not afraid of ideas. I'm an agnostic because I think that is the only defensible position. The truth is whatever you choose to believe none of us knows. The more we know the more we realize what we don't know. Who knows what we'll discover. Did microbes exist before the microscope? Anyway, if God does exist I like to think he's not the petty a$$hole the Bible makes him out to be.

Why am I an atheist, OK

1) Aged about 14 I started asking all sorts of awkward questions and nobody from the major religions could come up with decent answers. Things like 'Where is heaven'? 'Where is hell'? 'Explain using medical terms how Jesus could be brought back from the dead'?

2) Later on I realized that science held all of the answers and that science could prove religion wrong. The earth was not created in six days and Geology could prove this. Man was descended from the apes and Evolution was the best theory to explain this etc. etc.

3) My father was a very religious man yet he took eight days to die in considerable pain. If the Christian God was so compassionate why did he let this happen?

4) Finally, I decided that I prefer thinking and scientific reason to blind faith.

Please understand me, I am not against religion, and I understand that some people need religion in their lives. I do not.
