Hi all,
I practice ritual Magick (it's a legit religious practice - so respect) and I would love to join a group such as Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the O.T.O., Thelemic Order, or something of the sort - so that I can be with others of like mind. I've been in Wiccan / Pagan covens before and had no problem with it - but I'm looking for something to fit my new spiritual path.
I was wondering if they would have a problem with me being autistic, as many of them require 'mental soundness' and my condition is not immediately apparent (I'm employed, in a relationship, wear normal preppy clothes), but people realize over time that 'there's something wrong with that person'. The impression I got from the local O.T.O. members is a bit more 'coldness' or what I interpret as 'doucheness' than what I got from Wicca - Wiccans were completely friendly, accepting, and supportive of we who have disabilities. Since I don't know any occult lodge members very well, I don't really know how to broach the topic.
I've also heard some 'weird' stuff about the O.T.O. in particular - that they're invite-only, notoriously cliquish, very exclusionary. As a supporter of disability and other rights - I strongly disagree with any form of exclusionary behavior.
So do I:
1. Stick with folks I know are true Brothers and Sisters of an allied path, but who are more stuck on the level of worshipping gods than on accomplishing the Great Work
2. Attempt to join groups that would probably exclude me for who and what I am, or if I do become a member not behave in a way I would consider 'brotherly', but which will help me greatly in terms of my spiritual / emotional / psychological goals
If anyone has experience with this, please message me.
Thanks.

Particularly the works of Peter Carroll (he separated from the IOT later and his work has been much better than what the IOT has done since)
Also, I'd recommend tempering it with some lit from Robert Anton Wilson (like Prometheus Rising) and Discordianism literature (Principia Discordia)
