There's this campaign out there in the New York City area to try to be as hostile to a guest, Muammar Qaddafi, as possible. First, this rabbi that led the campaign to prevent his pitching his tent in New Jersey, then Qaddafi tried to get a townhouse rented in the city and the person reportedly refused to take his money, demanded instead that the innocent Megrahi be sent back to Scottish prison... and now they claim to have caught him trying to pitch his tent in Westchester County and the usual people are trying to stop him again...

Now, they are talking about illegal structures and breaking town bylaws. I'm sure that they do the same thing when the local Jews pitch tents for the Sukkot... besides, it's totally hidden by trees, it cannot be seen from the street at all, all pictures have been from the usually intrusive helicopter shot.

What message does this send? This is a message of hatred, of war, and stupidity. It makes America look like an inhospitable, ignorant country. Seriously. If I were American I would be most disgusted that my government is not doing anything to suppress these attempts to harass Qaddafi, a guest.

The displays of false outrage over the Megrahi thing is a bad joke... everyone with half a brain knows he's innocent... that is, people who actually know the case at all. Those who know the case and claim his guilt are deliberately stupid probably because they are already hostile towards Libya from the get-go and have a desire to frame that country and its leadership or are the types who want to see anyone be blamed for what happened, even if that person is not guilty.

In the UK comedy tv-quiz 'have i got news for you' it was once said he lives in a tent because he breaks wind all the time.

Not tents. Succhot (or booths) which are light construction temporary wooden booths allowing the sky to be seen through gaps in the ceiling/roof. Building such things are part of the celebration of Succhot, an ancient harvest festival from biblical times.

This celebration is protected under the free exercise clause of the First Amendment.

I don't think Megrahi being returned really has much to do with it. Probably more so the blowing up of the plane in the first place. Colonel Gaddafi is a straight up terrorist and Reagan should of had him killed back in the 80s.

Same goes for Ahmadinejad. We have no obligation to even let him in. He is not the legitimate leader of Iran.

And who determines that? Jimmy Carter?

As to Gaddifi, he is suffering from advanced brain rot. That speech he gave today at the U.N. was a total incoherent rant, complete with flying spit. The man is clearly Daffy Gadaffi.

The only reasonable place for Gaddafi right now is an insane asylum.

Or... maybe he is the legitimate leader of Iran, but the government and the corporate media lie to you, because Ahmadinejad is actually brave enough to not bend down and kiss our ass?

Yea, probably not. Anyone with some common sense could see their election was blatantly rigged. How exactly do you find Ahmadinejad brave? Was it the denying the Holocaust or the saying Israel should be wiped from the map? Ordering the paramilitary to shoot students in the street? Maybe the public executions of homosexuals?

I was eating lunch while he gave his speech to the U.N Assembly - I came within inches of spraying my pasta all over the table when he implied that the Israeli's were behind the assassination of JFK. He needs to call Art Bell with that one, Coast to Coast AM is probably a much better venue for him.

95 minutes of infamy topic

Yep. he held the floor of the UN general assembly for all that time and basically monolgued, which beats even me. Many UN delegates/members left, due to boredom. Coffee was available in the corridor.

And his clothing? He was actually wearing the tent he was not allowed to dwell in while in the United States. Gave himself shelter, desert windy :P or not.

You almost wish Kanye West would have appeared. Where is he when you actually need him?

Ah, well. Khat-Daffy and Mahmood Almond Jihad are cut from the same cloth, and must have shared their notes on Israel. Cheating, to say the least.

Mr. Nutty War was spilling his usual venom against Israel. He has regurgitated his speech many times. Saves on speech writing. Many left during his speech as well. Thankfully it was not as long as Mr. Daffy.

Just another day on Planet Earth.

I think I can straighten out the causes. They're abducted and probed by the Mossad almost nightly, beamed up into something like a flying yamika.

Qaddafi never blew up an American plane... never. He did not bomb Flight 103. That people believe this is the result of ignorance and this idea that "since a court decided it, it must be true" - so OJ Simpson is not guilty of the murder of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman!

Anyone who checked the case closely knows that Libya had nothing to do with the destruction of Flight 103. That includes the survivor organisations in the US. Their refusal to face reality is their problem. At least the British survivor organisations know the truth and say Libya didn't do it.

Iran blew up Flight 103 to retaliate for the destruction of Air Iran Flight 655. When Vice-President Bush said "I don't care what the facts are, I will never apologise" for that, he sealed their fate.

Qaddafi and Ahmadinejad believe in maintaining Israel but with a new regime... allowing for civil rights for all under control of that state. That is what Mandela wanted for South Africa and is perfectly reasonable.

The real issue here is that of hospitality and treating guests in a respectful manner. This extremist lack of hospitality is unbecoming. It shows a lack of interest in peace and a desire for endless war. It is giving the city of New York a bad name also...

The people involved were pretty rude. I think the US knew he traveled in a tent and should have made arrangements for that. He should have been respected for his right to freedom of speech.

I say give them enough rope and they will hang themselves.

Both Qaddafi and Ahmadinejad very much got the chance to show the rest of the world how insane they are. They really did not need our help to do that.

um...

In August 2003, two years after Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi's conviction, Libya wrote to the United Nations formally accepting 'responsibility for the actions of its officials' in respect of the Lockerbie bombing and agreed to pay compensation of up to US$2.7 billion – or up to US$10 million each – to the families of the 270 victims.

Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi, also known simply as Colonel Gaddafi; born 7 June 1942 has been the de facto leader of Libya since a coup in 1969

1) Dictators who have been in power for 40 years due to a coup are unpopular.

2) He is possibly disliked for giving someone who is viewed as a mass murder by america and much of the world a hero's welcome.

Baseless trolling. His country admitted it. If it was untrue they should not have. You are welcome to provide evidence that he is innocent.

Perhaps. But people who close all newspapers and tv stations in their country which don't publish government propaganda are not usually given the benefit of the doubt. I lost count of the number he closed when it was in the 100s

Then there was the fact he decided to once again blame the jews for rapes in his own jails. His credibility is heavily damaged.
