Talent agency boss who 'confronted a Muslim woman in London and asked her to explain Brussels' is ARRESTED for 'inciting racial hatred'

A PR boss who asked a Muslim woman to 'explain Brussels' has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

Matthew Doyle, an LSE alumnus and partner at a south London-based talent agency, sparked outrage on social media after he 'confronted' a Muslim woman about the Brussels attacks which killed 34 people.

He wrote on Twitter: 'I confronted a Muslim woman in Croydon yesterday. I asked her to explain Brussels. She said "nothing to do with me". A mealy mouthed reply.'

I think they'd struggle to define what he said, either on Twitter or in real life, as inciting racial hatred.

As far as I know, with one possible exception, he hasn't advocated attacking any Muslims. He's just made some bigoted comments about their dress (calling Muslim women 'towelheads') and been an obnoxious prick in the street.

I think it's high time we stopped arresting people for saying merely stupid and offensive things on Twitter.

What does everyone else think?

The hypocrisy in that article, where they don't see racism in them bashing him because he's white.

Islam is not a race, despite what these morons in the media and the left think. Religion =/= race.

They might be about to get him on a public order offence though - Section 5 I think?

What he was saying wasn't even that bad, he was voicing an opinion. He wasn't calling for violence at all, just voicing his disapproval of Islam.

It reminds me about here in Canada if you criticize Islam you can be arrested, but being critical of other religions does not net you any punishment. Double standards, eh?

We arrest people for 'offensive' tweets and comments these days.

We enforce Sharia.

Doyle should be charged with harassment, his intention was to vilify the woman based on her appearance. He did cause her distress...how would you like to be stopped in the street and asked to explain Rainman!!

The white privilege police is keeping the people of Europe in check while they get replaced with cheaper labor.
Loretta Lynch wants to implement a similar system here, we need Trump to ban political correctness.

If it was someone asking a Christian there would be no arrest and Hollywood celebrities would be retweeting it.

I wouldn't say what he did was harassment - he didn't continue to bother her once she told him to get lost. I'd just say he's being a bit of an idiot.

I wouldn't call that harassment, as long as I wasn't being followed.

Islam is a deeply backward, ret*d culture and we would be better off without it. We would be best off with all religions relegated purely to the private sphere, but Islam is bent on conquering the world. It has been since the time of Muhammad and Abu Bakr.

This kind of story makes me feel profound gratitude toward the people who plotted the American revolution and wrote the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Depressing that idiots like this man exist, but even more depressing that people think legal action is the right way to counter his idiocy.

First post in and already putting words in the mouths of the left in its entirety....maybe I should start beginning all my posts on politics with a negative comment about the right. But nah that would be kind of distasteful.

I am on the left and I don't think Religion=/=race, as for my opinion on the arrest...I don't think it quite qualifies as hate speech inciting racial violence so as much as I think the guys a royal a**hole I don't think the law supports him getting arrested per say if that was all it was. Now if he followed her around on social media or IRL and kept harrasing her then I'd say an arrest might be in order.

But yeah pretty low to target a random Muslim person and demand an explanation for a terrorist attack they didn't commit. But I have seen worse things said on the internet with no arrests occurring, I can however relish in the fact that I don't hang around gross people like that guy.

Could I please see some citation that criticism of Islam is a crime in Canada? If that is true it sure is a double standard but somehow I doubt such a law actually exists in Canada.

Also he wasn't calling for violence, but it wasn't just voicing disapproval of Islam...it was making an assumption muslims are all involved in terrorism. If you don't think that's so bad fine but that's not the same as simply voicing disapproval about the religion.

Lol how do you ban political correctness make it illegal to word things in civil non-offensive ways? Because that is what it actually comes down to...granted there are some PC proponents that take it way to far and would wrap everyones ears in cotton wool but outright 'banning' political correctness would interfere with freedom of speech just as much as banning unpleasant speech that can't be considered inciting violence would be.

Canada has something called their Human Rights Commission that essentially is some tribunal that they prosecute people for speech with.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_ ... ss.2C_2008

I remember a couple years ago they fined some comedian a ton of money for offending a lesbian couple that were heckling him in Vancouver I think a couple years ago.

America is one of the few places in the world with freedom of speech
