On TV this morning was Obama with other cronies with a turkey sitting on a table, being that it was thanksgiving I assumed that it was to do with that, I was right. I thought for a moment that this turkey was going to be slaughtered right there an then to symbolize the start of thanks giving.

Then I thought in NT style horrible stuff that happen every day has to be hidden away, while human remorse and kindness has to be publically displayed.

I think it would be more honorable for Obama to slaughter that Turkey publically on TV and encourage the non eating of these beasts for thanksgiving.

So in aspie style <morally superior> I symbolist the slaughter of this headless chicken and avoid the eating chickens and turkeys as they are kept in terrible conditions</morally superior>

I hadn't seen that televised moment. Mostly have been watching TV on Hulu, so only particular shows like Stargate Universe and V.

Not sure what your intended message is, do you mean to say that people overreact and assume the worst?

I don't really like Obama, or any of the Democrats, but it was kind of him to pardon the Turkey rather than kill him.

I think you are missing the point this is a tradition. Abraham Lincoln let his son keep a Christmas (not thanksgiving) turkey as a pet. It was John F. Kennedy that first "pardoned" a thanksgiving Turkey.

If it is a tredition, then the tredition sucks. They should, after putting the turkey on the table send him off to be slaughtered, just like the other millions of turkies that have it comming.

I guess he does whats expected of him. To me pardoning the turkey, while other get eaten is an empty gesture.

Presidents have been pardoning turkeys as long as I can remember; Nixon, Ford, et al...year after year. Some birds have also been spared..;)
