Do you agree that this is unfair?

OK, at my school there are two girls who are going out together. They, along with two or three other bisexuals (myself included), are basically the entire LGBT demographic in our school. So today in the library one of these girls who is sort of my friend told me that the headteacher has said that they're not even allowed to hug each other or hold hands in the corridor in case it offends people.
Now, it would arguably be almost reasonable if kissing/hugging/hand-holding had been banned across the board, but the straight people are allowed to obstruct the corridor with their public displays of affection all they want, so it's literally just these two girls who are not allowed. They weren't even kissing or anything when they were told this - they had just been hugging each other.
This is discrimination, right?

Certainly sounds like it. I guess the headteacher is trying to exert his outdated ideas on the school. I don't know what can be done to counter this short of a confrontation - it could blow up into something nasty such as expulsions or harassment by other pupils?

There certainly is some exertion of outdated ideas going on. Apparently it's a bit of a political correctness thing (which is ironic because you'd think homosexuals would be covered under political correctness. But no, allegedly religious beliefs are first in line for protection, then everybody else).
We (and my friend who is straight but a strong supporter of gay rights) are going to talk to the headteacher on Monday to see if this is all a miscommunication of some sort. I'm not sure how it could be, but I guess that's the best way to start.
Apparently this school has had incidents of discrimination against minorities in the past. My friend said that in year 7 (before I came to this school) a black kid shaved his hair like Mr T for Red Nose Day, and got put in isolation, while all the white kids who also had mohicans and stuff weren't punished at all. I have no idea how they justified that one.
