One-drop rule racist?

For those of you who don't know, the one drop rule is a term that is used mostly in America, I think, and its used to describe any white person with at least some "black genes" to be African American. I'm not sure about whites and south asians, east asians, etc though.

I think this term is kind of racist because it suggests that the "white race" is a "pure" race and once you add "colour" to it, you are no longer "white." First of all, no one is actually "white", aside from albinos I guess. Secondly, even among whites, there are different shades of skin colour.

Another problem with one drop rule is that it will create a false illusion of demographics especially when it comes to "the white race disappearing fast" because of interracial mixing. Well, you know what? Interracial mixing also results in other races disappearing if you really care about keeping each ethnicity distinct. Because in a sense, interracial mixing has resulted in "blacks disappearing" by blacks getting "whiter" too, aside from whites getting "colourized".

Of course it is racist. There are no pure human races. Not one. We are all mutts.

The idea that one gene inherited from an "inferior" race some how sullies the offspring of a "superior" race is total nonsense.

Absolutely! A Jewish father makes you just as Jewish as a Jewish mother would!

In a cultural sense, perhaps. There is no biological "Jewish Race". Jews come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Well! Really? I have never seen a dodecahedral or even a pyramidal Jew with either polka dots or alternate red and green stripes and I grew up in New York City where there are lots of Jews. My family on both sides is Jewish and they just looked like people!

Racism is the belief that human beings are divided by race.

Ah yes. I should have said Jews come in many shapes, sizes and colors.

That's an interesting concept. I always thought they were divided by sex.

There are several ways of classifying or "dividing" members of the human race. How about general body shape: ectomorph, mesomorph and endomorph? Tall and short? Fast and slow? Smart and not-so smart? That can be quantified somewhat.

It is said that a large American corporation, back in the '70s, sent out a memo to its department heads, asking them to list the number of employees in their departments, "broken down by sex."

Reportedly, one department replied, "Alcohol is really more of a problem around here."

In this forum, I thought they were most often divided by words, a sharp implement or an explosive device.

Imagine if you could recieve a DNA test tomorrow to decide your famial background. You would soon learn that everyone is related and minor skin differances would vanquish. Now then imagine what that leftover 20% or less would do? Perhaps it's best we don't allow such tests!

If knives or explosives are an element in this forum I quit as of now.
