Not quite sure where to post this, Computers or Adult, but seeing as this raises major philosophical questions I decided to post it here. Your thoughts

I don't see the major issue. It is an improvement upon a device that is good at gratifying human drives. I suppose the real issues might come in if actual AIs start being produced for this purpose.

That is where my thinking is going with this, all this is is a development the old blow up doll. Once they start getting into more realistic interactions, as in AI, is this a problem or is it just further improvement upon a device that satisfies human desires. Will such a dissociation from reality have a neutral or positive effect, or will this like the more extreme examples of porn, have a very negative effect, upon male attitudes toward women.

BTW Magnus they are working on 'Rocky' for women

This is something they've been talking about for a long time, I even remember hearing the idea of 'robot escorts' broached on Beyond 2000 when I was a kid (late 80's?). I think the place AI gets weird is - at what point does something take on 'consciousness'? The movie AI even brought this up (robot giggalow and all), I think if anything we'll want to really analyze ourselves and see if we can figure out where consciousness well up from, what causes it, and of course to make sure to the best of our ability that robots don't develop - otherwise it would be very unethical.

I'd think Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp would be the biggest sellers these days.

Basically it's the human equivalent of a dog falling in love with my knee. So much for human superiority.

Exactly. Although I could have a lesbian fantasy with this sort of thing, I could NEVER have a fantasy about a male if it were a doll. Funny eh? I think it's a dehumanizing thing. When I fantasize about women, I tend to dehumanize them, but when I fantasize about a male, I always revere him in a proper loving fashion.

What scares me is when the military gets hold of these humanoids and turns them into killing machines. Mechanical equivalents of suicide bombers that can walk into a crowd and explode or inject diseases unknowingly or pose as officials to misinform crowds to cause mayhem and riots. Real killing machines in a battle need not look human and are better off as mechanical monsters but the pseudo humans or imitation dogs and cats are frightening in a psychological manner.

Well, right, but sand, the problem is that to make a human machine is likely quite expensive, especially since it has to be programmed incredibly well(and have a variety in programming otherwise it would be given away by certain mannerisms) and the body size, shape, and look can't be mass produced(otherwise you could tell by the way the thing looks).

As it stands, I think military use will take quite some time as these tools will both have to be made possible and feasible in order to be made usable.

We better just make sure to keep the Conner's safe.

OMG! That is like an exact representation someone who bought this thing.

Expect for the part where he pretend the doll is human and doesn't use it for his sexual desires...or does he :cyclopsani: lol
