In the last couple of years, the Jewish colonists in the West Bank have described a "price tag" policy to punish Palestinians for any Israeli official action against their illegal outposts, according to the Israeli authorities. So on many occasions, when the Israelis dismantled an outpost, the colonists would attack Palestinian property, destroy crops, and attack people generally with impunity.

Now, after the Israeli courts have ordered the evacuation of a seven-storey illegal structure set up by Jewish colonists honouring that spy who helped send U.S. nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union, the mayor says he will evacuate this and in return will knock down 200 Palestinian homes in the neighbourhood.

This is the side of the tensions that get swept under the carpet, despite being the key barrier to peace. Israelis need to contain themselves once and for all, and we should cease to stick up for them if they are unable to pull their weight in doing that. They are more tham capable, and are not poor and under resourced. Stop building roads and infrastructure for settlements, so the Palestinian territories are so carved up and haven't got a chance in hell. Stop turning a blind eye and playing ignorant.

I wonder how much Palestinian properties the settlers destroyed when they were kicked out of Gaza?

Evacuating the colonists was ideal in increasing the terror. The campaign of sonic booms quickly followed the "disengagement". As for the colonists, the campaign against the olive harvest and the olive crop is well-known to those who care to look. The wall that they built also serves to destroy crops. Finally, the Israelis destroyed much of Gaza's farmland during "Cast Lead" and have a policy to shoot anyone wandering about on that land.
