That could be because of one (or both) of two reasons:
1) It's their fault. It could be because of their political ignorance and misunderstanding, or they know better and are just trying to immaturely deride your beliefs with straw man arguments.
2) It's your fault. It could be because you lack a firm political position, or you lack understanding of your views (or politics in general), or you may not be articulating your views well enough.

When I talk to people I have no idea as to whether they are AS or not. I have a few friends locally and cannot tell what their psychological disposition is and do not judge them on that basis.

Why the need to refer to 'NT', as Sand has just pointed out, why discriminate on their assumed physiological status. I have aspergers, if you started to spout Nazi ideology I too might presume you identified with that particular ideology. May I suggest that in your discussions you explain your fascination with various political philosophies, and disavow your listener of the belief that you ascribe to the particular one in question (if of course that is the case)

i run into this same problem. even when i clearly state that i hold a contradictory position to the one that i'm explaining. i find that it's often when i clarify a position that i don't agree with that has been misinterpreted by people that i generally do agree with.

i fail to find an eloquent way to explain how to avoid this without avoiding the discourse itself, which i find myself unable to do.

Speaking of assumptions, why are you assuming that he doesn't explain himself beforehand? How can you tell someone they're wrong when they're just recounting their own experiences through their own eyes?
