I sprinkled a whole lot of salt on this. Who is this historian anyway? Also, the site this appears on seems to be 100% pro-islamic - hardly the most objective source I've encountered. I'm not saying there aren't nuts in Israel, but we need more clear and rational thinking, not mindless rumourmongery.

Israel does not have enough nukes. And even if they did, attacking Europe would be economic suicide. This is so damned foolish.

The State of Israel is too large to be an insane asylum and too small to be self-sufficient.

Martin van Creveld has appeared often during the years to give his opinions on things. I told this very place here that Israel was a big threat to Europe, potentially, far more than Iran, and this is because of a certain truth about Israel - that it's full of people who are mad at Europe for what happened during World War II. That's far more of a motive to destroy Europe than any that Iran has. That France gave them decisive assistance to build nuclear weapons was an act of suicidal folly.

I guess I should start packing then, is there another part of the world with a moderate to cold climate untouched by natural disasters where I can relocate to?

Sorry guys, we have dibs on Canada. We're planning on conquering it next weekend, then trading it to China to shave a few billion off of our credit debt, we just can't take the collectors calling all the time anymore. We're tying to get them to go for a package deal including the land, timber/mineral rights and the Canadians themselves as labor, they currently are taking parts of BC out for a test drive and should be getting back to us by Friday.

They hate Poland also and Eastern Europe and hate the Russians because of the whole Doctors' Plot brouhaha as well as their support for the Arab states and the whole Refusnik business.

Any possibility that the old iron curtain countries would be some of the friendliest to Israel and their plight? Perhaps it may be more prevelant in places like Estonia or Lithuania but I figured that a lot of the former USSR-controlled countries were much more pro-American, pro-Israel, I don't think any one doctor anything would be enough for them to want to start attacking even the most luke-war fairweather friends when they're still surrounded and outnumbered hundreds to one by countries and people who educate their children with math problems as early as 2nd and 3rd grade that often involve killing Jews. WWII and a Europe who largely looked upon these attrocities with sheer horror, even the most rogue despotic country wouldn't behave that way, it may kick the shins of enemies bigger than itself and play allies against them but you would never see them try to shotgun-blast the hand that feeds them.

Im still of the sort that thinks the whole Zionist movement is to blame for a large amount of the current instability in the middle east, granted it has ALWAYS been unstable, think of the crusades and earlier.

They have more than one, which is all that's needed to crash the global economy, let alone Europe; but that's midterm. They do have enough to hit the major European capitals, though I'm not sure what they'd be trying to deliver them with. Their only real chance would be a surprise attack with long-range missiles (the existence, capability and status of which I certainly don't know enough about) or shipping containers; I wouldn't bet on their aging submarines or outdated F16s getting very far. The Israeli military would have a hard fight against one mid-rank European power, and would of course be comprehensively trashed if it attempted to take on Europe as a whole.

And there's the whole MAD thing going on. I wouldn't bet on a British nuclear response even in the event of London being redecorated in glass (it rather depends what Gordon's written in his letters of last resort) but I'd certainly bet on a French or Russian nuclear response, and Israel is not a big place.
