Why do some people say Hezbollah is a fundamentalist...

Keep in mind that Hezbollah has a strong presence in Beirut.
You know, just because some of their activities fit the definition of terrorism doesn't mean that they are all that fundamentalist.

Hizbollah is primarily a gang of thugs. They use religion as a promotional trick.

Hezbollah has a strong presence in Beirut, but so do the Christian and Druze segments of the population. I don't think Hezbollah supports or even approves of the night life; politically, they are aligned against the prodevelopment groups in the country.

When the Israelis were busy blowing up Beirut in 2006, Hizbollah was the only party fighting back. That gave them legitimacy in the eyes of the Lebanese populace even though Hizbollah started the 2006 war by kidnapping two Israeli soldiers and underestimating Israel's response...
