Easter is approaching soon. Have we, as Christians, taken any time to ponder it's worth? Church can be so numbing. We need to take time to think on the sacrifice made for us, everyone of us: Christian, non-Christian, black, white, yellow, red, Communist, Socialist, Capitalist, NT, AS, HFA, PDD-NOS, the good, the bad, and the ugly. This realization leaves little room for pride. I for one, am unashamed and eternally grateful to have accepted Christ's sacrifice for me. Anyone have anything POSITIVE to add?

Well you've just made by night...thankyou. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end. I've always liked that verse so I share it with you.

You're welcome. I noticed that no one is bringing it up but Easter is in 3 days. It is very important to Christians to remember Christ our hope. I do not attend church regularly for a variety of reasons and I think this makes the holiday even fresher for me. I thought about watching The Passion this Friday but I'm not sure I want to cry that much!!

You are calling an awful lot of people "crazy". It does not make someone crazy if they believe in God. The vast majority of the world does; they cannot all be crazy. In fact, has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe it is the ones who don't believe that are a little off? (I didn't think so) Anyway.....

I used to attend a church when I was a kid and they washed feet before communion service once a month. I hated that but I have to admit; it's pretty humbling!

I agree with you Bland it doesn't make anyone crazy if you believe God. I can't wait till Easter.

I'm sorry Church is so numbing to you, Bland. Perhaps you could check out some non-denominational churches. They offer a more upbeat approach in their sermons and music. Also, participating in ministry is a great way to serve your community and feel His love.

I go to a small Methodist Church where everyone knows everyone else, and I love it! During our Pastor's sermon on Palm Sunday he offered us a choice...we could waive our palms up and down the isles at Target or at Lowe's! What an impact that would make! We didn't actually do it, but it definitely brought an awareness of how important it is to spread His word.

Church is so much more than sitting in a pew. The more active you become, the more love you feel!

Blessings to you all!! !

i wouldn't say the idea of a god is so crazy as much as following certain "leaders" of the faith. which is why i always enjoyed the imagery of the sheep and the church leaders being shepherds to the flock....because sheep just follow. i'm not going to speculate on whether there's a god or not but the simple presence of the gnostic gospels is more than enough to make me question the current form of christianity. that certain gospels were destroyed to fit the image that the church wanted to shape for itself says a lot about what the church might have censored out of other gospels long ago that have long since been forgotten. but hey, like robert wuhl says in that show....when the legend becomes fact: print the legend.

and really, i didn't want to get into that(and yet i did...welcome to the ambivalence of me), i was just more making a general fun statement. i call my friends crazy....it was meant more in a happy sort of way....not demeaning. seriously. i didn't mean it that way. for once.

Maybe some of you could help sum this up for me. Why do those Easter Christians come only on Easter and then you won't see them ever again until Easter of the next year? Why can't they come every Sunday? Are they too busy to worship God in a church every Sunday? Kind of makes me think if they're really Christians at all.

Hey the bible says we arre a peculiar people so it's all good to me. I like the song "Radically Saved" yeah...we are a crazy bunch. I remember being called a Jesus Freak, and DC Talk has a song out called Jesus Freak. We are going to look that way to the world, so hey...it's ok. I know skafather84 didn't mean any harm, I took it that he was just teasing....as to why some people only show up to church for Easter??????? Beats Me. Never could figure that one out.

from what i was taught in catholic school was that easter is the be-all end-all of christianity and that you have to go on easter no matter what and if you miss mass, you can miss however much(though it's obviously not recommended) but easter is manditory.

christmas might be the same....not entirely sure.

don't they call it 'having faith' because faith is blind? therefore the term 'blind faith' doesn't actually make sense...

All of that aside, Easter is tomorrow and the fact the Christ died for me so that I could be reconciled to the Creator of the universe and fulfill my part in His plan for me on this earth and thereafter means everything to me. It is the entire reason I live. I'm not sure if this comes through all of the time in the things that I do or say, but it is the most fundamental part of me. It is most profound and I don't know why God would do it, but He did, and I am very grateful. I do not really care right now what nonbelievers think because I'd rather be concerned about what God thinks. Easter and Christmas have a way of sobering me up. It's a time to reflect and reorient my thinking. It's a good thing. I hope this has been an encouragement to other WP Christians because hostilities run high here against Christians. That is really irrelevent in the larger scheme of things. All of it will come out in the wash in the end.

Amen, Bland.

The thought of the meaning of Easter always chokes me up. It's amazing really. It makes me wonder, why? He knew what would happen to him, and he knew that most people would reject him, and yet he still did it. The pain he put himself through...

I'm babbling now, so, um, yeah...

It's astounding. Better pondered than discussed.
