But any religion can be turned into something like that.... There are alot of christian extremists who want their religion forced through legislation.... Look at issues such as the 10 commandments at the court building, "under god" in the pledge of allegiance, ban on gay marriages, the theory that "christmas is under attack" because they say happy holidays now instead of marry christmas (in other words, theyr acknowledging several mainline religions instead of ONLY theirs).
I sincerely believe that the Christian extremist are like the American taliban in many ways. If they were able to get their way, we'd be living in a theocracy.
Muslims are just as bad, maybe even worse because they don't have to go by the checks and balances we do... However, the Christian extremists in the republican party have made great efforts to begin removing our checks and balances little by little.... But I think the Christian extremist movement is beginning to splinter off into factions and what not, it's beginning to break down.
