Say we were passed "the singularity" and people with personal androids were as ubiquitous as PCs are now. AS is still just as much as a problem or even more in the high tech society. Many more of AS people would be dependent on these androids for whatever the task is at hand than NTs. Would these androids be more likely to develop disorders due to their keepers? Would they ask for divorces, or unplug their selves?

It really depends on the programming of the android. Any piece of machinery can develop problems as a result of usage. A good piece of machinery will be less likely to develop problems.

well, if they are programed to imitate their owners, then I suppose that could be the case.

And about "asking for divorce", I personally don't see the point of programing an android to behave irrationally like people do, but I suppose some people may want that. If that isn't part of their programing, I would say that is a malfunction or an infection. Computer viruses and hacking come to mind, in regard of changing their behaviour, as well as their ethical programing, which I suppose they would have.

I personally would hate an android refusing sex, which I would think "I didn't buy her to do that".

I have always wanted an army of killer robots so that I can take over the world.

Doesn't everyone? :D

my best guess is that if they were made by honda or sony or both together, they'd be pretty reliable and would auto-debug themselves.

You'd probably do a lot better taking over the world with an army of robots designed to look like Jesus with laser armed forefingers.

If it passes the Turing test, would an android have the choice to leave a situation it felt uncomfortable in? If not given the chance, could it's caretaker be charged with neglect or abuse?
