Who would we support? We dumped tons of money into Saudi Arabia, but we historically support Israel, so what would happen?

They're pretty much the same country.

That's like asking who we'd support in a war between France and the UK. It's not in the realm of possibility.

"We"? And why would anyone want to support them?

On each side, we have:

A) A rightwing anti-peace population that applies religious apartheid and by doing so perpetuating the ideological conflict between the peoples, but they have a religious lobby in the US that push to support to "their" country, and by doing so they have no reason to negotiate with the other factions and finally have peace.

B) A religious fundamendalist country with no freedom of press or speech that still largely suppress womens rights because of an interpretation of religious scripture, but they have an unspecified amount of oil which may be drying up as we speak because the true amount is a state secret.

If they annihilated each other tomorrow - i wouldn't care.

I've heard that if Israel was going to attack Iran, Saudi Arabia basically gave them the green light to use their airspace to begin their campaign, is this true?

The company that owns GCN, which hosts the Alex Jones show, is a Saudi company that has businesses that advertise and arranges trips for Christians to Israel.

I remember seeing that story not too long ago. The Saudis fears the Iranians as much the Israelis do.

It won't happen. Because the Saudi government invests billions of dollars in America. The reason? To protect their Royal Family. Ironic since, the US pleads that only by Democracy can we be a 'free' world, and yet Saudi Arabia and Jordan (major US allies) are ruled by Royalty. Saudi royalty basically hire the US to keep them in power, in power of wealth and status.

In 1984 2 of Americas allies went to war. England and Argetina. Guess which side we helped...neither we sat back and watched. The Brits and the Argies used weaponry systems we sold to them. The same thing would happen if Israel and Saudi Arabia went to war. The US would never allow it to happen though. If did happen they would probably put US troops on the oilfields to keep the Israelies from bombing them.

I would support Israel because, although hawkish, Israel allows more personal freedoms, and womens' rights and LGBT rights exist there.

Saudi Arabia, although peaceful, allows no freedoms, and sentences people to death solely to cater to King Abdullah's every whim.

(Ironically, I do support the two-state solution)

Saudi Arabia is in a de jure state of war with Israel since 1947. Saudi Arabia spends an annual $35 billion on its military (India spends $36 billion), while Israel spends $12 billion annually.

They're more concerned with Iran than each other. The enemy of my enemy is my friend type of thing.

Israel is supposed to be "our great ally"

Really? Why? Did they send troops to Korea or Vietnam or other wars America has been in?

Google "the Lavon affair" or the "USS Liberty"
THEY attacked US! Just weeks ago they boarded a US flagged ship in international waters and shot an American teenager through the head.

Israelis have been caught spying on America and selling our secrets to the Russians.

Such friends! So who needs enemies?

The Saudis just sell us oil and buy our treasury bonds. What have the Saudis EVER done to annoy us?

Most of the 9-11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia.

But were they sponsored by the Saudi government?

A flag of convenience is not a mark of sovereignty. It is neither an exemption to boarding, nor a mark of diplomatic immunity. It does not confer territorial benefits.

The first point: you can not float your boat into harbor and expect to subject only to the laws of your home country. The same goes for international waters.

The second point: if it were true, the somalis, pirates and terrorists would simply purchase American flags and laugh in the face of law. Hell, they are laughing already.

Third: you couldn't anchor a ship off shore from say, Israel, rape some women, smoke a big bowl of weed and expect to have American law applied just because you fly an American flag.

Forth: you couldnt set up a hospital ship in international waters, sell maternity services to foreign women and expect that they would gain American citizenship. That dog dont hunt.

Its sad that some kid had to die, but the boarding itself was not illegal.
