according to the un only 20% of what they predicted has been pledged in aid to pakistan, aid agencies are worried by their slow rate of well 'return', why do people think pakistan which admitelly has the 27th highest gdp has recieved so little support?

I wonder how many cash strapped, inflation busted, untrusting of ethnic groups British people have donated money? I wouldn't waste a penny on Pakistan, especially since £250,000 of the British tsunami fund money was wasted on "wages and handling costs".

Well Haiti was a lot closer to home and received around the clock media coverage, that's obviously the biggest difference. I've heard basically nothing about the floods. You don't see any celebrity telethons for Pakistan. I can't exactly blame people for not wanting to donate to the Pakistanis either, they have an evil corrupt government that funds the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Do you know where your money is going?

There are already so many disasters going on people may just not give a s**t. Although personally I'm quite worried about a country with a lot of terrorists and nuclear weapons being destabilized.

i have a friend whos staying in a more afluent (and unaffected) area of pakistan at the moment and got in touch to check they were ok n evetrything. they told me that they were really suprised because the local people were they are really dont seem to give a crap (their words) and havent done anything to help at all. according to them there has been more of an effort to help here (UK) than within pakistan itself:/. i dont know if thats entirely accurate but i found the fact that they even got that impression interesting

Is there an "I don't care" option?

Why can't the fabulously wealthy Arab-oil states like the Saudis, UAE, and Qatar step in to provide the billions of foreign-aid $$$ for a change?

I bet Obama is writing the 100$billion check as we speak. 'Chelle prepares to do another wrenching you-tube plea for donations.

I say we should re-route all aid from Israel to Pakistan.

Should look into global economic policies sometime. The aid is important for stability. Obviously our aid was wasted in Pakistan but that seems to be more due to our poor choice in appointed leaders in that region than it is the aid itself not being sufficient. I'm not entirely sure if our Egypt appointee is better or if it's just that Egypt has more resources available to it.

There is a thought. All aid should be private, not tax funded.
