You Fools! You thought voting for Obama would improve matters, didn't you? Didn't you? You silly, silly yokels! Well, you guys voted for him, now we are all stuck with him.

And you think Bush or a right hand conservative would've done any better?

No. But I would not have had any high hopes either.

Hope is the food that fools eat. They will get tummy aches.

Well I don't believe I ever had any high hopes. If anything, I knew our economy was bound to suffer especially after that dumb war in Iraq. I don't believe any president can get us out of this mess that's already been made.

Just for the record, I did not vote in the last presidential election. The outcome was a no-win so why bother?

I never had hope, nor did I support Obama in the primaries, nor was I happy that he got the party's nomination - but I'd rather have him than have Sarah Palin being an old man away from the nuclear button.

Because it's not about "win". Politics can also be about the little things. It might be really hard to fix all the big things, but voting is a way to at least try to move some things in one direction or another. Obama and McCain didn't have the exact same platform, or even the same intentions. Voting won't solve every problem, you can't expect it to, but it might lead to the possibility of improving a few details here and there. Unless you want a revolution, politics tend to work slowly. And yeah, Obama is far from perfect, but if McCain and Sarah Palin had gone into office, you could have expected a catastrophy.
Yeah, a two-party system can never be true democracy (and my country is gradually adopting one too, which is a bit scary), but it's better than a dictatorship, and at least you get to try to pick the lesser of two bummers. That's what voting is. It would be great if it was more, but unfortunately change is slow. Oh, and the president can't change everything on his own. If you want change, you have to actually make change happen. Democracy means people rule. Means the change has to come from the people. All the president can do is try to not stand in the way.
McCain would have stood in the way a hell of a lot more than Obama does.

Just an outside perspective.

I voted for Bush in 2004 and McCain in 2008, so I'm not a fault for supporting Democrats.

Well if people really thought that things would be wonderful due to electing a new president then sure they were fools.
But how many people would that be?

Surely everyone knew things were going to be bad. Wasn't it a matter of which policies people believed in and how much a particular party would benefit them?

Hey, why not vote for a woman just because she's a woman? It would be no different that how voting was done for Obama in this previous election, especially since it seems apparent that he wasn't voted for upon the grounds of any actual merit of his own.

Robin Williams joke: Sara points to her bosom and says to the voters -- how do you like My Northern Slopes?

Imagine having someone who is both president AND whacking material.

---

Well, under Bush, Jr. the Koran would have been burned in Florida; under Obama, the Koran has not been burned in Florida. Under Bush, Jr. there would have been more "Mission Accomplished" banners hoisted on large boats; under Obama, there simply have been more vows (promises) made on a daily basis to fix this department of government or that department of government or that Christian minister/non-Christian minister. Bush, Jr. didn't care about fat American children but Obama's wife has made it her goal to eliminate all fat American children (obese children) within twenty years.

Hot air appears to be part of the productline of both the Bush, Jr. and the Obama White House.

Not true. Many who (foolishly) voted for Prince Obama thought he was the Coming of the Messiah. They thought he was the Word made Flesh. They found out just how wrong they were in short order. Obama is the misbegotten spirit child of Old Mayor Daley and Saul Alinsky.

Close enough to the thoughts of some democrats... especially prior to his second year in office. To speak against the dude was consider heresy and blasphemy, just about. At the very least, if you said anything disrespectful about him, then you must be "a racist" that was just... so... much... crap.... But now we're stuck with him for yet another two years, ... only that long hopefully, it would suck if people were actually dumb enough to reelect him.

He is Mr. One Term. He has disappointed his True Believers by not abolishing the capitalist system in the first two months of office. Also he has hired the same crew as has run our economy into the ground when they worked on Wall Street. I am not saying the republicans will win in 2012, but it won't be Obama in any case. He is Damaged Goods beyond the hope of redemption and repair.

Yes, FSM-forbid that someone might actually oppose his policies on their merits - no, it was all about being racist and voting against him because he was black or that women were so stupid that they'd only vote for other women. Now they're all complaining about how Obama is too moderate and isn't carrying out a progressive agenda and standing up to Republicans like they're actually surprised even though his political views were quite clear from the outset.
