OK, everyone, let's see who you like in the Bible besides Jesus (you're supposed to like him, so I'm leaving him out). Here's who I like:
Old Testament:
Daniel--I just love this guy's courage
David--Yeah, he was a bit of a knight templar, but he did have some admireable traits too.
Esther--How can you not like her?
New Testament:
Peter--I feel like if I were in his sandals, I'd have probably made the same mistakes. He's refreshing at times.
Paul--His letters are so inspiring. Plus, you gotta love how he was so determined.
Mary--I was wonder what made her so special in God's eyes. I wish the writers told us more about her.

I like Jonah's attitude. It's takes some guts to stand up to God and say 'Great plan God, but I'm not doing it, I'm going on a cruise instead'.

How about Joseph? Jesus' step-father?
He got a pretty raw deal and we can only assume that he died before Jesus was grown up.

Everyone makes a big deal about the "Virgin Mary" but it was Joseph who had all the work and the worry.

Christianity is all built upon Judaism. Jesus Christ was a card carrying Jew.

Jesus Christ was simply an extremist, liberal Jew. If you take away Judaism, there is no Jesus Christ (my view today).

I like Wolverine the best with his claws and constant ornery badassery.

Sampson is mentioned in the Pilgrim's Progress and the jawbone of an ass he used to slay an entire army with is on display at the Palace Beautiful (museum) along with the staff of Moses which Moses used to lead the Israelites out of Egypt as well as the sling and stone which David used to dispatch Goliath.

(This is pure, 100% science fiction movie fact)

I like Hagar... you know she's the first person in the Bible to name God? (The God Who Sees). She gets the same promises as Abraham (that from her would come mighty nations, etc) and has a really harsh time as a slave. I prefer her to Sarah by a long chalk... Hagar is the underdog, and I think she's overlooked a lot by folks who think the "man's story" (Abraham's) is more important. Hagar is cool.

Damn, is that what it was? I always thought he used the assbone of a Jew.

I never liked David because he set up one of his own men to be killed because he fancied his wife.

I never understood Joseph (OT) and why he forgave his brothers. I would have told them to feck off.

Joseph very nearly did tell them to eff off... you can understand why. If you remember he put them through a series of tests to see if they were still the same cruel murderous b@stards he remembered, and the brothers showed that they had changed, by doing everything in their power to protect their youngest brother, Joseph's full sibling Benjamin. Joseph went off and wept, then he revealed himself to them.

Also, Joseph's brother's weren't entirely sure that Joseph had truly forgiven them... remember they were worried that after their father died he might turn on them. He had to give them reassurances that he really wasn't vengeful.

The whole thing is an example of what Christ meant when he said, "forgive others"... if you can forgive someone else, then you begin to recover from the wrong they did you. If you don't forgive you carry that hurt around with you forever, and you can't allow yourself to be forgiven. If Joseph hadn't forgiven his brothers he would always have been that frightened teenage boy in the well. By forgiving them he freed himself.

My favorite would be my namesake, Lilith who was the first wife of Adam, and his intellectual superior

Was King David imperfect? Yes.

Does the Bible suggest King David repented of his deed after spiritual pressure from a Rabbi? Yes.

Was King David as awful as you report? Yes. That's my understanding.

Why did Joseph forgive his brothers who had tried to kill him?

Apparently the Jewish monk/whoever who wrote the story wanted to introduce the idea of love as being a virtue and revenge as being something else? (just a guess)

Was Joseph as forgiving as you report? Yes, that's my understanding.

I prefer Eve, who was created out of a rib to submit to man as man submits to God.

David the son of Yishai (Jesse) was a bit of a thug. But he was G-D's thug.

Agree 100%.

Question: Did David actually write the Psalms in the Old Testament or did David hire a ghost writer to write the Psalms?
