Latvia's government, having succeeded in shrinking GDP by over 25% over the past couple of years, has been reelected. This is mainly because the only party offering an alternative to suicide is seen as the Russian party and so better to die as Latvians and snuff out the Latvian nation than to vote for a party with Russians in it. Also, their president announced that he'd nominate to be prime minister only someone who agrees with shrinking the economy further. This is a Xhosa cattle kill here - national suicide. The rate of marriage and birth has crashed the last two years from already woeful levels and people who were escaping abroad are trying get out in quicker numbers than before.

Is that the country where they were aggressively committed to the IMF "austerity" regimen to fix their portion of the global financial meltdown? The Tea Party in the USA wants to do the same thing. Slash budgets, slash taxes, end welfare, etc.

It is one of them. Ireland has done nearly as "well". In that case, the British media chose to ignore the events there during the election campaign as they didn't want to destroy David Cameron's chances. He still needed fraud (Nick Clegg lying about being against austerity and then changing sides after the votes were in) to lead the extremist government there now.
