Who do you think would win a trade war China or The United States?

I was going to post this in the news section but i thought it would fit better here. I would have gotten more links to add to this post but I'm lazy so you only get one.

China. They'd simply dump all our debt and let us drown in hyperinflation. Then, after the cities stopped burning, they'd march in and annex us. That would give them more room for more Chinese.

Wouldn't we simply switch over to becoming a manufacturing nation again? We have the resources for it.

I think plundering is a more viable option initially, and then manufacturing products for export after we have enough spoils of war to finance the industries.

Plunder china? it would seem the easiest to get away with but they are overseas and it would just be another expense added on top of the inflation. Plundering Mexico or Canada would just bring problems i think.

Nah, not China. The orient has always been great trade partners, why mess with them. Rather, we could start by just pirating with our Aircraft Carrier Battle-groups, and also perform air-piracy with our Air Force. Also, since we're being accused of stealing oil from the middle east, why not just actually do so and levy taxes also. The conquered people of our Empire might as well help pay for our debts. Then we can conquer more lands and levy more taxes, at the same time developing industries in their countries for both us and the vanquished to benefit from.

America can't really conquer anyone its people won't really allow it. and air piracy? do you mean forcing aircrafts to land and then seizing them? that would just stop trade from any other foreign nations. China would be the only country i can see the other nations letting America conquer and even then its only if they purge themselves of our debt. also collecting taxes on foreign nations is a very un-American concept.

Well, it doesn't really matter what may be considered "un-American", in the same manner that the term "unconstitutional" applies only to that which is against a liberal agenda for the course of the United States. If it is indeed to be considered "un-American" perhaps some random speech could be thrown together making sure to emphasize the buzzwords of "evolution" and "progress" ad naseum until piracy and the levying of taxes upon protectorate nations is considered to be "American".

Fine since your going to be picky about it. As it stands and for the foreseeable future, taxing foreign nations is impractical for the American government because of the political backlash such an action would cause by the populaces views of such actions being un-American. Changing such perceptions would not be easily accomplished by something as simple as a speech.

Okay, perhaps a speech wouldn't change their mind... how about launching them into space to colonize Mars?

They would risk nuclear war if they tried that. They cannot repossess our arsenal of nuclear weapons.

Push comes to shove, we can blow up any nation in the world even if the fall out would injure us.

China has helped us financially though, lending us money when we needed it. I say we pay it back sooner than later, so as to maintain good diplomatic relations with them. Also, China isn't quite as suppressive of its people as it was a few decades ago - they're getting better and not worse. So, it would be good to encourage this trend.
