Maybe this is just some of that "black comedy" I don't get  but Alan Grayson is a piece of crap and if the people of central Florida have any brain cells left will send this meathead into an early retirement this November. If the polls are correct, it looks like they will too.

Given that you've done what Alan Grayson does here, I think it's a little self-defeating to call him a "piece of crap" (remember that time you took Chris Coons comments grossly out of context?).

As for the ad, I'll admit this is a prime example of the degeneration of American publics and Alan Grayson shouldn't have used that clip to make the point about Webster being anti-woman. It's a sleazy ad and sleazy tactic.

What did I do to Chris Coons? I only said he wasn't an attractive alternative for religious voters who would get upset by the witchcraft thing from Christine O'Donnell. The context of which he said it doesn't really matter although I'll actually admit I have not read his paper and I didn't read the explanation of it until after I made that post. I wasn't saying "you shouldn't vote for Chris Coons because X" but more that people who would get turned off by the "dabbling in witchcraft" comment by O'Donnell won't be very attracted to Coons who was taking heat for "the bearded Marxist" thing around the same time.

But that's besides the point, I'm not running for office. Maybe I should tho if guys like Grayson can get in. Ha.

Grayson is continuing a proud American tradition that started when Thomas Jefferson called John Adams a hermaphrodite. :P

I particularly enjoyed reading of the 1828 Presidential election. There were some rather unkind remarks made about Mr. Jackson's mother in that campaign.

After some obsessing, I found the quote:

Mac McClelland wrote:
1. And the 1828 race, again, takes it: Adams supporters attack Jackson's family, calling his dead mother "a common prostitute, brought to this country by the British soldiers," after whose service she "married a MULATTO MAN, with whom she had several children of which number General JACKSON IS ONE!! !" Jackson's wife, who was previously married and (accidentally) not completely divorced prior to her second marriage, they call a "convicted adulteress." When she dies within days of Jackson's victory, he blames Adams' vicious campaign practices, exclaiming at her funeral, "May God Almighty forgive her murderers as I know she forgave them. I never can."

Also pretty funny:

Mac McClelland wrote:
3. Whigs portray incumbent (and son of a farmer) Martin Van Buren as an effete snob with a penchant for really nice perfume and strutting in front of $2,400 mirrors like a peacock. He is, in fact, the lowest-spending president yet, as far as White House purchases are concerned; his opponent, rich kid William Henry Harrison, wins the 1840 race on a (BS) platform of loving log cabins and hard cider.

What they said about James Buchanan was pretty funny. Andrew Jackson referred to him and William Rufus King as "Miss Nancy and Aunt Fancy" and "Buchanan and his wife" by Tennessee governor Aaron V. Brown. Buchanan and King were apparently rumored to be gay with each other.
