I guess the phenomena isn't exclusive to the Tea Party or fringe leftists.

So they interviewed people who weren't necessarily the deepest thinkers? Bravo. On the national debt, a spectre the Tea Party and Republicans have been especially concerned about, yeah, the random college kid botched it. Keynesian stimulus isn't really just throwing more debt on a pre-existing debt; it's supposed to stimulate the economy, which nets higher tax revenues from the existing tax rates. Spending on education, for example, makes a society wealthier in the long term. Spending on infrastructure projects provides jobs in the short term and also lays a foundation for later economic growth.

I haven't even watched the video, but from my understanding moderates tend to be LESS intelligent than extremists (at least according to a study Awesomelyglorious once cited).

I'd really like to see a scientific comparison of how informed various ideological/voting blocs are. My guess is that America's much lauded "independents" would come up dead last in terms of knowing the issues.

It's merely what the MSM did to the Tea Partiers. Only fair. By their logic, Stewart/Colbert's audience are ignorant, unstable, and possibly violent. I could of sworn I heard one of them say the "n-word" too.

Can you give some examples of government stimulus that has worked Neant? Or like communism has never "properly" been executed, has there never been a big enough stimulus?

I wouldn't disagree with that. A lot of those people who identify as moderates or independents are generally the type who would vote for the better looking candidate or the one they'd like to have a beer with. Jon Stewart's cry for "sanity" and civility sounds like a child crying for his parents to stop yelling at each other.

From what I understand, massive funding for advertising really affects "Swing Voters" because they don't know a whole lot about the issues. The whole notion of "bipartisanship" is pretty foolish, as during the 50s America was pretty bipartisan and that translated into ZERO progress when it came to civil rights. Only after America became "polarized" did the issue become resolved.

In addition, I think this video is pretty pertinent:

Is WWII good enough for you? If government can stimulate the economy by spending trillions on killing people and blowing things up it stands to reason that they could also stimulate the economy through more productive modes of spending.

Like the New Deal which didn't work and actually prolonged the depression?

I think it has more to do with liberals, conservatives, moderates, and the rest being able to disagree with each other while assuming a measure of good faith. We could assume, for example, that our political opponents do not want to destroy the country but just have different views on the means to improve the country and possibly on what a better America would look like in the first place.

Here are a few:
  • The New Deal during the Great Depression
  • Land-grant colleges
  • The Eisenhower Interstate Highway System

Why should I believe some right-wing propaganda site that won't accept anything as fact other than far right politics?

Well as I said, I don't believe the New Deal worked and I'm going to read some more about land-grand colleges and the interstate highway system so I'll get back to you in a little bit. Were those really stimulus in the Keynesian sense? I know the interstate highways main purpose was for the military.

I thought Reason was pretty fair. Almost all the questions were word for word the same asked to Tea Partiers.

To be fair to Stewart, his "rally" seemed more like a media event than a really political one. I only watched about 20 minutes of it and it was all music. I think most of the people showed up for comedy and the show.
