Very possible.

Snopes has financial trails going back to sources with the Democratic National Committee. Hence why I consider anything Snopes has to say suspect. Even if it tells the truth on 95% of what it publishes, that allows it to be taken seriously on the 5% that's false.

Google was started with seed money from CIA sources. Google currently has more information on every Internet user than all of the intelligence services combined....100% legal since most nations' "constitutions" only limit the action of governments, not corporations.

Wikileaks might be independent, but how hard would it be to release bogus information, or good information for the sole purpose of creating a scandal to justify government imposing controls on the Internet? Not hard at all as far as I know.

Those that really run the world are getting concerned that as they dont control the internet, like they control the media, too many people are waking up and discovering things like, 911 wasnt done by Muslims, Governmnets are controlled by the bankers who are manipulating events towards a One World banker dictatorship.
Sure they can hire people to trawl forums saying "conspiracy theory" and hurl infantile insults, but its not working as well as controling the internet for, "security" reasons.

Doubtful. The creator of wikileaks has been framed for rape charges. Most likely Alex Jones is a shill.

^That's much more realistic.

Already suggested that theory and it is plausible. I think this is an attempt to be able to get power to shut down all conservative voices on the net, talk radio, etc.

I see we have our tinfoil hat on here.

Google holds anonymous data connected to IP addresses. If you haven't chosen to open a Google Account, they have nothing connected to you personally other than a cookie and an IP - and cookies are easily wiped, IPs are easily changed.

Even if you do have a Google Account, there are laws in many jurisdictions (including the whole of Europe) regulating how long Google can hold data on you, what it can do with that data, and how secure they need to make it.

What Google is, is a marketing company. They'll use their data to look for trends on internet users as well as give them ads relevant to them, but they're not some secret spy organisation.

Google does have unusually close ties to the Obama White House. While the White House may not have that information from Google yet, it isn't that much of a stretch that they would get that information.

The White House can get information from anyone at any time, they don't need to have connections with a company and engage in conspiracies to do so.

They do if they want to keep it quiet. Additionally, the Government has used agencies in the Government in the past to try to discredit and hence silence critics. For instance Bill Clinton used the IRS to harass Bill O'Reilly and finally backed off when O'Reilly threatened to sue.

That's because there's no freedom of speech anywhere, but I digress.

They could quietly issue a special warrant, make a company hand over information, then make everyone involved sign confidentiality agreements if they want.

The IRS backed off after O'Reilly threatened to announce the attempts all over the airwaves and further threatened to sue the White House and the IRS for harassment.

And I'm glad he did, but a big company is hardly likely to take the same stance if the US government come knocking for information.

Depends on the company, generally companies like Google and News Corp (which owns Fox News)can essentially tell the Federal Government to take a hike, particularly when from a legal standpoint they are in the right.

I mean seriously, it makes you wonder about how on the up and up the Obama Administration is if he fires someone just because they may end up being talked about by Glenn Beck (whom for the record didn't talk about it until the day after the individual was fired cause he wasn't going to comment on something that he had no idea what was going on).

I'm not an expert in specific US laws, but I'm pretty sure the almighty US government have power to get information from companies.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge on the subject could chime in?
