Jesus's grandparents were Jewish, not Christian

It's pretty clear that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was Jewish and her father and her mother were Jewish. Did Jesus ever complain about his grandparents (Mary's parents) being Jewish and not Christian and did Jesus threaten Mary's parents with eternal damnation if they did not convert to Christianity? What does the Bible say? Do the Mormons of Utah who trace geneologies back almost forever know what actually happened years ago in Israel?

My first impulse is to say: "So what?"

If you want to get TECHNICAL about it, Mary was the earthly mother of Jesus and Joseph His adoptive father. Jesus once told a Gentile woman that He had come to the Jews, not their "lapdogs." My opinion is that God set apart the Jews as an exemplary nation for the rest of the world, a role they didn't always fill very well. Jesus' teaching were partially intended to set things right again and then through the Jews reach out to the rest of the world. From studying the Bible, it appears that it still took 15 years (roughly) after Jesus' earthly ministry to get the ball rolling, but eventually the apostles went to the Gentiles and started churches among them.

To respond a bit more directly:

There's no mention in the Bible of Mary's parents.

Jesus never complained about anyone not being Christian. The word for "Christian" wasn't coined until after the ascension, so Jesus couldn't have complained about it--or if He had, it makes no sense why.

Jesus DID say that the only way to the Father was through Him (Jesus). A recurring theme throughout the gospels is that most people failed to acknowledge Jesus as the promised Messiah until after His death and resurrection. There are passages, in fact, that mention His mother and His brothers trying to keep Him quiet. But by all indication His earthly family came to believe in Him (at least His mother, and also James). Jesus probably didn't "threaten" His earthly family "with eternal damnation" but rather chose to let them see for themselves whether He was who He claimed to be. He DID say that those who will not believe are condemned already, although it was not for the purpose of condemnation that He was sent--but rather to save the world (to include His family as well as others).

Abba Arsenius said, “I have often repented of having spoken, but never of having been silent.”

We know for sure that Jesus was a Jew.

1. He went into the family business with his father Joseph.
2. He lived at home with his parents until he was 33.
3 His mother Mary was convinced he was God
4. He was convinced his mother was a virgin.

And, of course, his mother thought he should be a doctor. That he could raise the dead indicated he had a bit of talent in that direction but apparently he had few commercial instincts, unlike the hierarchy that developed from his beliefs.

Before Jesus was invented everyone ate hummus and the number 1 radio hit was the theme song for "Happy Days". Everything was equal and peace, and people wore holy underwear in fear of damnation of the bowels. Toilets weren't flushable and people used flattened squirrels as toilet paper. It was alright but it could have been better, so some guys were like "lets invent Jesus" and the rest said "okay sure". And then Jesus did things and shot lasers but died somehow but it was good because he died for our sinfully sweet chocolate and that's pretty neato burrito doritos.

Maybe so, but he was convinced she was a virgin.

Where stands it written - or have you had a personal revelation out of heaven?

What if we have ODD syndrome? Can we be forgiven for that?

Einstein said something to the effect:
Success requires three rules to live by, work hard, play hard, and keep your mouth shut.

What if nobody believes anything you say anyway? Can we then have verbal diaarhea once in a while? I think so. It would be unfair to say no to that small request.

NOT a name, of course. Though titles and occupations can become names over time. like Schmidt.

Arsenius was a great guy, who would be very interesting company here. The remark [and my quoting of it] reflect experience.

Scenario A, I talk fo an hour and nobody notices. Or I answer a question and the other guy hears only his answer. Of I say something under my breath in a noisy meeting and somebody takes offense.

Anyway, more a reminder to myself than a pointed finger.

There are those who hold that Jesus was just a nice Jewish boy who went into His Father's business...
